What cryptocurrencies should Publish0x use in the future?

By seaticket | underthecryptosun | 29 Dec 2020

I am long time reader of Publish0x, but had never thought of posting. What intrigued lately though was the reward system Publish0x uses, in particular the choice of cryptocurrencies. Both now and in the past ethereum token have been used to rewards both the reader and the poster. The specific tokens change from time to time, Dai and Hydro have been removed for example, but Publish0x still operates within the realm of erc-20.

Here are some thoughts I had about the whole rewarding process:

  • Using existing tokens, rather than minting, one more, platform specific token is a solid choice.

  • Discontinued tokens are automatically swapped for tokens that are still in use. Another good function. In such a way the writer/blogger never loses any value from the Publish0x wallet.

  • The tokens used are not obscure and worthless. Robust projects are chosen such as Ampleforth and Bat.

  • Content of very low quality, shitposting etc is rare, although some posts are longer than needed imho.
  • I often read interesting analyses of projects not mentioned in reddit, cointelegraph, Hive etc

All that being said, there are some possible options to improve the platform even more.

These are of course just a few suggestions and I would welcome some feedback.

  • Automate the withdraw process.

Although some measures have to be taken to avoid bots, multiple accounts etc the withdraw process could be swifter. Could long time users and writers perhaps withdraw without needing to do an email confirmation? Also, the payment page would look better if it was embedded directly at the Dashboard page.

  • Let the user choose the token of reward.

The randomness of the token given for each upvote action is somehow fun, but since the amount of rewards per day is stable giving some control to the user would make the platform more attractive. It would also eliminate the need for making four separate withdraw requests if one chooses to be rewarded only in one type of token.

Alternatively there could be an in-platform conversion tool.

  • Explore some options beside Ethereum and Erc20.

Yes, I know Publish0x is an Ethereum centric platform but some non-eth cryptocurrencies with low or no fees (e.g Nano) could make lower the costs of transactions significantly and also make daily payments possible, assuming they become automated.

  • Last, but not least, I’d like to propose one thing everybody will like and will drive additional traffic to Publish0x. De-fi airdrops! Publish0x could in collaboration with new De-Fi projects distribute De-Fi tokes of new but exiting projects to existing users.

If any of the above suggestions is implemented in some way it would be amazing. In any case, thumbs up for the project so far!
