People don't often realise how hard it is to be disabled, chronically ill and unable to work.
Some think we just get enough money to live on and have a great time sat at home day after day. That is not remotely true for millions.
I live in the UK and I do not qualify to get the main disability benefit because instead of just quitting work and applying for disability benefits, I pushed myself working part time instead of full time. It was torture but I did it for many years until I was in tears just getting to work due to the extreme pain and fatigue from my chronic illnesses.
Eventually I couldn't even do that, so I had to quit totally. My severe chronic pain and chronic fatigue had gotten so severe.
It was then that I found out I couldn't get disability because I had been working part time and below the income you need to get to quality to pay National Insurance (NI) which is like social security I think in the USA.
So as I was earning less than the minimum you need to earn to qualify to pay NI, I couldn't get the main disability benefit which was called "new style ESA".
Meaning that working hard pushing myself for years, went against me and now I can ever ever get that main disability benefit because of that. Because I worked.
As my income is just a few hundred pounds a month total, I could never afford to pay rent anywhere at all. So I live with someone which means I have a roof over my head thankfully. But as I don't pay rent, their income gets taken into account, so I can't even get another benefit called Universal Credit (UC).
That means my only income is PIP at a few hundred pounds a month before all expenses etc. That is my only income.
I don't go out to town or the shops because of my limited mobility and extreme chronic pain and chronic fatigue. I watch movies and browse the internet and that is it.
I don't have heating, even when it was -14c like last winter as heating costs a fortune. I eat limited foods due to cost and can't shop instore, so I do a online shop at most once a month or usually once every 2 months.
So don't assume people are doing well and having fun at home when they are disabled and/or chronically ill!
Don't believe the misinformation you read online that non-disabled people post to make out people are getting lots of money and are all able to work. Most of what you read is fake.
Such as thinking disabled people get free cars.
If a severely physically disabled people qualifies for the highest level of mobility for PIP, they can PAY to RENT a car. They don't get one free, they rent it and pay for it! And not everyone even qualifies for that.
I don't have a car and even if I qualified for it I wouldn't get one as it would cost my entire income of PIP alone, every month to rent it.
Don't believe the misinformation and outright lies posted by ableist people. Do your own research before spreading their ableist misinformation.
