My Netflix Recommendations After 3 Weeks Of Lock Down

Like most places in the world, Greece is in quarantine and total lock down. As a result I am staying indoors for pretty much.. all day long. Working, eating, masturbating, sleeping, everything in home for the past 3 weeks.

So, I took this opportunity to watch a LOT of shit on netflix, especially a couple of series I always wanted to see but never had the time! So, here are my top-picks from my latest watches, for any of you that might have netflix and nothing better to do with your life.

1. JoJo's Bizarre Adventure (just part 1, the rest is shit)
This is an anime I had stumbled numerous times on youtube clips, memes and always looked really cool. The first season was pretty much awesome and I enjoyed each and every episode. Season 1 gets a 9/10 from me.

After I finished it, I was even more excited for season 2 (Stardust Crusaders) because from some clips I had seen (Dio vs Jojo) I expected A LOT. But other than the last 2 episodes, I will give Stardust Crusaders a rating of shit/10. Really boring, pointless scenes and most battles are simply put, retarded. It felt like watching a filler for most of the part.. And may be it is. Not to mention how it totally forgotten the existence of Hamon which is the main super power of the protagonists from season 1. Yes, there are some good moments here and there, but generally I was forcing myself to watch it until the last episode. There are more seasons (not available on netflix) and I am definitely not watching them.

TLDR: Watch the first season of JoJo's Bizarre Adventure because it's awesome. Treat the rest as if it had never existed. Cause its crap.

Here's a Japanese trailer, unfortunately no English subs. There are some english dubbed trailers on youtube but fuck that.** Whoever watches dubbed anime, even if its just a trailer, deserves to die.**

2. Castlevania
Castlevania is an american animated series, loosely based on the Konami video games of the same name. I didn't had any expectations prior to watching it or heard of it before. I had simply run out of ideas of what to watch, saw the name and clicked the play button.

And I didn't regret it for a moment and watched all 3 seasons in a row! Great animation, great story, great voice acting (at least for American Standards, lol) etc. It wasn't perfect, and it got boring here and there but nothing major. If you like dracula, zombies gore and shit then you will probably love it!

I will give it a solid 8/10.

3. The Platform
Now, there are two ways to see this movie. One is to watch is seriously and enjoy all the deep mumbo jumbo meanings, like how capitalism is bad, communism is good, how far a human can go to survive blah blah blah. If you are a leftist your mind will probably be blown and reccommend it to all your leftists friends.

Or you can just watch it as yet another netflix flick, enjoy the weird story and simply enjoy it as just another weird movie with plenty of gore. I am in the latter category, and I will give it a 6.5/10. If you run out of options give it a go.

4. Coach Carter & MoneyBall

Both of these movies are based on real life stories. The basic story is the same, just different sports, although each story has its own deeper meanings and messages on racism, personal development, goals in life etc.

I found both pleasantly surprising, despite not being a fun of either sports. If you like biographical movies and sports then these two are a must watch.

5. Blood Ride
Now, this is a horror mini series with small independent episodes, each around 25 minutes. The series has mediocre ratings hovering in the 6 out of 10 range, but personally I found most stories intriguing and enjoyable.

This is a great pick if you are too tired or have too little time to watch a full movie. Personally, I loved it and watched all stories in one go.

The End
And that's pretty much my recommendations for today. As I mentioned in the prologue, I have watch a shit ton of stuff these days and these are just my recommendations of what I have only watched recently during the lock down.

As a sidenote, I also finished Star Trek Picard yesterday. Although my initial impression from the first eps was "pfff, this shit is boring" it gets better and better with every next episode.

Hopefully, Patrick Stewart will live long enough so that we get to enjoy a couple extra seasons. It gets a 8.5-10 from me and definitely is a must watch for Star Trek fans.
