If you are not familiar with the name Bakkt just yet; prepare for this to not be your first time.
These guys are major players in the big business corporate world of Bitcoin and cryptocurrencies.
Before Bakkt released there app for testing, this company served institutional/OTC investors such as the Cash App!
"Well Trevor, if they are so powerful, how come they are just now releasing an app?"
One word can answer that for us now and that word is,
Regulation
Yes, that's right!
Regulation is coming if you haven't noticed yet or been reading my articles here the past year.
It is a very slow process & tedious for all those less confident.
So could Bakkt have released an app last year?
Yes, probably!
The difference now though is that there is much less uncertainty & more transparent regulations officially in place.
This App that Bakkt is now releasing has likely been in the works for awhile now waiting for the perfect time to drop.
Now seems to be the time & Bakkt has geared themselves up for go time!
I have been selected to receive early access and to also Beta test the Bakkt app now.
Courtesy of Bakkt they even funded $10 bucks into my new account to get started.
So, how is it?
So far so good!
It was easy for me to tell after a few hours of using it that the app was very eloquently designed.
The UI doesn't fidget as much as most apps making it smooth & easy to navigate.
Bakkt impressed me big time with this & how well their security policies are right out of the gate!
After a few minor penetration tests to try and break some parts of the app I was not met with a single one.
That is a good sign! It should not be easy or quick for someone like me to break into and because of that they deserve big kudos!
What kind of Features?
The most obvious feature of them all is obviously the ability for users to purchase Bitcoin through the Bakkt app.
Before I jump into details however, here is a quick look at the features seen thus far:
- Buy/Sell Bitcoin
- Rewards
- Bakkt Debit Card
- Portfolio Tracker
- Purchase Gift Cards
- Cashback Offers
- ACH link to Bank Account
Aaaand that's pretty much it for now!
It isn't super overwhelming which is a smart move on Bakkt's part.
Anything that makes the app easier to introduce to new investors is a big win!
By keeping it simple like this they should be able to open up the market to a lot more people who were more unwilling to try before this year.
Anything groundbreaking?
While it may not seem like this new app release is a big deal, it actually came with a few pleasant surprises!
As I explained during the intro, Bakkt is a big key Bitcoin player in the Corporate world of crypto.
Which is cool, but, that is not what surprised me about this app.
What surprised me was the fact that Bakkt quietly partnered up with some common household names I have been waiting to see!
Those household names are:
- Chase (JPMorgan)
- Wells Fargo
- US Bank
- Citibank
- American Express
- Discover
- Alaska Airlines
- Frontier Airlines
- Hawaiian Airlines
- JetBlue Airways
- Hilton
- Best Western
- Marriot
- Wyndham (Days Inn)
- Domino's Pizza
- Chipotle (owned by McDonalds)
- Starbucks
- Subway
- Dunkin Donuts
- Panera Bread
Conclusion!
The Bakkt app is amazing news whether you end up using it or not!
While some may think it is long overdue or a bit too late.
The people at Bakkt definitely see things differently and this is welcoming news for more mass adoption.
Compared to apps like eToro it is already better & less scammy.
Mix that with awesome security, a huge corporate backing, and a $20k Bitcoin price on the horizon.
And Bakkt has the makings of wonderful new app that will be here to stay!
At this time there are no referrals or invites to take part in the new app.
However!
They seem to be rolling out releases across the US pretty quickly now as I have now only had it for one week.
Early Access was great but it literally could already be out for you right now already!
