India Goa, Arambol beach, a piece of Europe in Asia, peace and joy

goa03.jpg First stop on GOA - Mapusa town

We started our journey to the first beach and our first accommodation point from Mapusa. As in all India, crowds, cramps, stench and noise. It is a small town where buses come from Bombay, a kind of transfer base to individual beaches of the Indian state of Goa.

From Mapusa we go to Arambol beach. Instead of 200 rupees for a tuk tuk vehicle, we paid 20 rupees for a bus, but they rip off;)   India Goa, Aramol beach

goa_plaza11.jpg goa_plaza11a.jpg     My first contact with India was basically Goa. It turned out to be a bull's eye. After the chaotic and terrifying Bombay, Goa turned out to be an enclave in which I felt like in Europe. Lots of white people from all over the world, elderly hippies, and young liberated and joyful people. A strange feeling, I was far from home, in Asia, in unpredictable India, and I felt at home in Europe. Wonderful place.   a.jpg       Lots of hippies on the beach, some from the 1970s who came to Goa and stayed there. Wind in your hair, speeding motorcycles, European food, pubs, cheap alcohol and marijuana - this is not India, it's some strange world!

Dogs are everywhere

Completely harmless, looking for human contact, they followed us all over the beach in search of company, shade and some tasty snack. They were well cared for and happy.

Arambol Beach is not sand against the sea

Goa's beaches stretch for tens of kilometers along the coast. One ends the other begins, each different, each but all beautiful in their own way. You won't find perfectly white or even yellow sand and crystal water there, but you will find atmosphere. The beach comes alive in the evenings and teems with life until the morning with singing and dancing.
