The U Min Thonze cave temple on Mount Sagaing is another point on the map of Myanmar that you must visit. Although we were already very tired of constantly climbing the stairs with heavy backpacks loaded with electronics, we followed the recommendations of our guide with difficulty.

The building was probably built in the 14th century, but after many years of neglect it required renovation. Reconstruction was made in 1847.
Budowla powstała prawdopodobnie w XIV wieku, jednak po wielu latach zaniedbań wymagała odnowienia. Rekonstrukcji dokonano w 1847 roku.
The temple is also known as a cave temple, known as "Gu" and this type of construction was very popular in Myanmar at that time. However, the genesis and idea of such architecture comes from India.
Świątynia nosi też nazwę jaskiniowa, znana jako "Gu" i tego typu budowle były w owym okresie bardzo popularne w całym Myanmar. Geneza i zamysł takiej architektury jednak pochodzi z Indii.
Temples of this type were built in caves so that there were appropriate conditions of seclusion and low temperature to conduct meditation. In addition, the U Min Thonze temple is located on top of the high Sagaing hill across the river near Mandalay, from where there are beautiful views and panoramas.
Świątynie tego typu budowane były w jaskiniach aby panowały w nich odpowiednie warunki odosobnienia i niska temperatura do przeprowadzania medytacji. Dodatkowo świątynia U Min Thonze położona jest na szczycie wysokiego wzgórza Sagaing po drugiej stronie rzeki niedaleko Mandalaj, skąd rozciągają sie piękne widoki i panoramy.
The U Min Thonze temple is also called the Temple of 30 Caves, because it has 30 entrances to the arc-shaped gallery. The entrances are beautifully decorated and they are all identical. In the curved room decorated with tiles, there are 45 images of Buddha in the form of statues. They are all identical too. The whole hall is about 100 meters long. Of course, as in every Buddhist temple, there is no shortage of containers for donations.
Świątynia U Min Thonze nosi też nazwę , Świątymia 30 jaskiń,,, bowiem posiada 30 wejść do galerii w kształcie łuku. Wejścia są pięknie zdobione i wszystkie są identyczne. W zdobionym kafelkami zakrzywionym pomieszczenu znajduje się 45 wizerunków Buddy w postaci posągów. Również i one wszystkie są identyczne. Cała ta sala ma około 100 m długości. Oczywiście jak w każdej buddyjskiej świątymi nie brakuje pojemników na datki.
But the cave is not the only attraction of this place. There are many other shrines and stupas around it. From the top of the hill, there is a beautiful view of the Irrawaddy River and the plains surrounding the city of Mandalay.
Ale jaskinia to nie jedyna atrakcja tego miejsca. Wokół niej znajduje się sporo innych kapliczek i stup. Ze szczytu wzgórza natomiast roztacza się przepiękny widok na rzekę Irrawaddy i równiny rozciągające się w okolicy miasta Mandalay.
