The bus was abandoned by construction workers in the 40s and was made famous by a 24 year old adventurer called Chris Mccandles who died in the bus after hiking and coming upon the bus.

To further bring fame to the misery surrounding the bus, So many tourist hikers died trying to see the famous abandoned bus in Alaska.

The bus was finally airlifted from the Alsaka wilderness by a US military helicopter after spending up to half a century in the wilderness.
