One cold night, two police officers answering a call about a disturbance came up to a homeless man outside a store entrance. Rather than harassing the man as some might expect, they began asking him if he was okay. They seemed to care about this man. Adele, an observer, managed to catch some of this exchange on video. A little while later, while checking out, Adele noticed that the police officers had bought food for this man and paid for it out of their own pockets. Tracy McGee was walking to work 4 hours every day to support his family. He lived with his aunt and cousin who were unable to work due to health issues. Tracy had no other way to get to work. A police officer noticed him and many times offered him a ride, which he sometimes accepted. Then the officer decided to start a gofundme page for this young man. He got enough donations to allow him to take the bus to work for a year and buy a few things for the family. Taking the bus would take him 15 minutes instead of 4 hours to get to work.
In light of the attitude towards police today I wanted to share these stories that I ran across today. Police put their lives on the line every day and get so much abuse. Despite this, many still go above and beyond to take care of others. Police, like all humans, are not perfect. Most of them are there to protect us. Sure there are a few bad ones, but isn't that true of most, if not all, professions? The next time you run into a police officer show some appreciation and tell them thank you for their service (hopefully you aren't being arrested at the time 🤣 ).
