Dishonorable Discharge?

Dishonorable Discharge?

By Deejo | Thinking-Out-Loud | 8 Oct 2021

U.S. Troops could be dishonorably discharged for refusing COVID-19 vaccine. A committee with Congressman Mark Green and other House members have added an amendment to the defense spending bill. This would protect military members who don’t want to get the COVID-19 vaccine from getting a Dishonorable Discharge. This committee has both Republicans and Democrats and had 100% support but the Biden administration is against it. It still has to pass the Senate and the House floor.

“In short, a Dishonorable Discharge is the lowest form of discharge one can receive in the military.”

“A Dishonorable Discharge is reserved for truly reprehensible crimes such as murder, manslaughter, sexual assault, and desertion.”

The cost of receiving a Dishonorable Discharge is quite high. It’s more than a slap in the face. It makes it much more difficult to get another job. They would not be eligible for military benefits, not be allowed to own firearms as civilians, also, they may not be qualified from ever receiving government benefits (which could include unemployment).

The Biden administration treating the military like this is disgusting! Military members are protecting our country and deserve so much better. To be treated like a vicious criminal just because they have personal concerns (or religious beliefs) about taking what still amounts to an experimental vaccine is absolutely reprehensible.
