"Whenever I tell people I don‘t want to work remotely, they look at me like I just said I don‘t like pizza.
'But you can work from anywhere! No commute! Flexible hours!'
I know. I‘ve tried it. And I didn‘t like it.
Here‘s why."

1. I Need a Physical Separation Between Work and Home
When I work from home, my desk is always there. My laptop is always there. Work is always there.
I can‘t 'leave' work. I just move from my desk to my couch. And I still feel like I‘m at work.
I need a clear boundary. I need to walk out of the office and feel like the day is over.
2. I Miss the Social Side
I thought I didn‘t need office small talk. I thought I could just focus on code and be happy.
Then I spent weeks working alone. And I realized — I actually miss people.
I miss lunch breaks with colleagues. I miss asking a quick question instead of typing it out. I miss feeling like I‘m part of a team.

3. The 'Flexibility' Wasn‘t a Good Fit for Me
Remote work sounds flexible. In reality, I ended up working longer hours.
Without a clear start and end time, I just kept working. 9 AM turned into 10 PM. I had no structure.
I need a routine. I need a schedule. I need to know when to stop.
4. I‘m More Productive in an Office
At home, there are too many distractions. The laundry, the dishes, the TV, the fridge.
In an office, I just work. That‘s all there is to do. And that helps me focus.
5. I Prefer the Energy of a Team
There‘s something about being in the same room with people who are working on the same thing.
It‘s motivating. It‘s energizing. It makes me want to do better.
I don‘t get that from a screen.
"I know remote work is amazing for many people. And I genuinely think it‘s great that it exists.
But it‘s not for me. And I think it‘s okay to say that.
Not every trend has to fit every person."
