Wayfaring, Part 1

Just where exactly is life?

I'm told that the poet Arthur Rimbaud got himself to leave his boring hometown with the declaration that "Life is elsewhere." A young Leonardo DiCaprio played Rimbaud in a weird indie movie called Total Eclipse. Not long after that he did Titanic, and truth be told, both of these flicks inspired a young Rin (that's me) to get out and see the big world. The whole Jack Kerouac thing.

They say there are three ways to expand your mind: Psychedelics, art, and travel. I find this to be true, though the list is by no means exhaustive.

This series is about travel. But there are different ways to travel. You can travel to get away from yourself. A lot of people try to do that. Ultimately it doesn't work. Wherever you go, there you are. I like to travel to get outside of myself, to sidestep the social pressures that squish my everyday life into shape, in order to get a better sense of who I really am. Who are you when no one expects anything from you?

Maybe this series is about that.

This series was made on cheap cameras and lovingly edited on apps like Oggl and Hipstamatic. The best camera is the one you have.

Well, that's it for now. There's more to come, my friends.

This marks the first in what I hope will be a long and lucrative career on publish0x.com. Having spent most of the last ten years as a monk, I don't have a lot of dough to put into crypto. Please follow, and tips are oh so welcome. 🙏🏻
