In our last post 'Corona Virus is Here to Stay' (here: https://www.publish0x.com/the-other-side/corona-virus-is-here-to-stay-xkljke) we received several comments from some Italian guys complaining about data used in the post to be inaccurate. The inaccuracy? The fact that the Italian government took measures to contain the virus when it was already late. However, commentators actually couldn't claim this was inaccurate, because it was not. So they concentrated on not mentioning in the post about why the Italian government didn't respond immediately - as if an excuse was offered, the fact would be that the Italian government responded accordingly to the threat and in time.

Let's take the same argument to another environment.

A 48-page book is sold at amazon.co.uk for £199.99 - this is outrageously expensive. Now, if anyone would report that the book sold at that price is expensive, would be accurate, because it is. You can blame amazon for making huge profit out of the book. You can blame the British government for imposing 20% VAT on top of the net book price. You can blame the publisher who is also making a huge profit out of the book. You can find hundreds of reasons and people, organisations, or companies to blame about the price of the book. The fact remains though, that despite the validity or invalidity of those reasons, the book at the time of the statement that the book is overpriced, is 100% accurate. It could be cheaper - maybe in an alternate universe it actually is - but excuses about why the book is overpriced, don't change neither the fact, nor the statement of the fact, that the book is overpriced.

Amazon, can blame the publisher about the price of the book. The publisher can blame the British government, about that. The British government can blame both amazon and the publisher, about that. Did this blame game changed the price criticism about the book? Definitely not! Do those complaints sound like cheap excuses? They certainly do!

If you don't like the reality as it stands right now, change it! But you can only do that in the future. And any changes you make, will not affect the past reality, no mater what. So, don't shoot the messenger for telling you about the present reality. It's not his fault.
