You think that all authors are only writing about NFTs, how their portfolio is doing, and a bunch of other crap. Yes, there are such low quality posts. But there are probably a lot more that never appear under the 'New' tab, that is supposed to present the latest posts published. Why is that? Read on.

Tags are used to restrict appearance

You think that once an author hits the 'Publish' button, his post will be visible to everyone. Don't bet on that! In reality, the only one to actually being able to see the post listed, is the author himself, especially when the post is tagged under certain keywords. This is supposed to keep readers from getting a bunch of advertorials to read. But this extends far beyond this. Even if this really the reason, the list of tags that are considered to be used for spammy content is so extensive, that eventually is restricting most content, until it is supposedly reviewed by a moderator. Even so, advertorials are finding their way to the newest posts feed, while opinion or investigative content is only viewed by the followers of an author, under the bell indicator.

Moderation goes beyond tags

What if you published a post with no tags? Would that make a difference? It seems it doesn't make much of a difference. Certain expressions, domains contained in links, even keywords, will make a post invisible to the readers, until a moderator reviews the 'spammy' piece. Reviews though seem to happen only when the author goes to complain to the admins. If no complaint is received, to review is done, and the post stays visible only to the authors and their followers.

This is happening for some time

Now, you may think that such practice started happening only recently, and until now Publish0x was a shelter of freedom of expression. Truth is far from that. We had complaining for posts being invisible for about a year. But until the complaint was reviewed, our posts would be at the far bottom of the feed. Do you ever reach the bottom of the feed? We bet you don't. This is how low quality posts make it to the 'Most popular' feed; they are the only posts that reach the 500 unique views mark to be listed there.

Yesterday we published an investigative news post on Uniswap, titled 'Uniswap may be fined at least $540M for its airdrop by the IRS'. It only received 39 views, although for about 1 hour there were seemingly no other posts. Even out of curiosity, you would have read it. If the Publish0x moderation system would have given it a chance, that is. How we know this? It was very easy. The only thing we had to do was to visit the newest posts feed while logged -off. Guess what? The post was not there. And it never got there. The only views it received was from people who follow us. Until Publish0x comes with a way to make our posts invisible even for them.

Freedom of expression anyone? Naaah...
