As with any other incentivised publishing platform, users are not joining for reading or posting articles. They join the platform for he incentives. But how much can you realistically make? Let's see.
As a reader
Rules are clearly defined in Publish0x's tipping system. Your first tip is worth in total about $0.05, your second tip is worth in total about $0.03 and your last 3 tips are worth about $0.01 each. 'In total' means that this is the amount shared among a reader and an author, with the reader deciding what portion of each tip will keep for himself, and what will donate to the author. Minimum is 20%, and maximum is 80%. This means that the maximum amount you can earn each day for reading 5 posts is 80% of $0.11, or about $0.088. So, for a whole month reading 5 posts per day, that would be roughly $2.70. Not bad, since you usually read posts for free.
As an author
While the same rules apply for both readers and authors, readers may only be paid for reading up to 5 posts per day, while authors have no limits on their earnings. At least in theory. In practice, an author can earn - if all readers offer a tip - anything between $0.002 up to $0.04 per reader. With anywhere from 17,000 to 22,000 tips offered per day, this means a maximum of 3,400 to 5,500 readers tipping authors. This could earn an author anywhere a maximum amount ranging from $6.80 to $220.00 per day. Popular posts may get some 2,000 reads per day, but readers will tip 25% of the earnings per tip in average, which makes anywhere from $2 to $10 per post published. Most popular posts earn about $8, but there is no author that can be writing consistently popular posts each and every day, even with a huge owned followership.
For instance, MuyAsk earned $8.48 for his post published on April 9 (with a huge owned followership of close to 2,000 followers), but he/she is publishing 3-4 posts per month, earning him/her from $22 to $64 for the month (and about $128 since January, or about $9 per post).
Verdict
If you are looking to make several extra dollars per month by publishing posts, Publish0x is a great platform, that has been consistently paying readers and authors for the past 2 years. If you are looking to make some kind of an additional income, neither Publish0x nor any other incentivised publishing platform is for you.
