Time Travel Doesn't Need to Look Anything Like a Time Machine

Four time machines

Exploring Time Travel, Spacetime Engineering, and Declassified DIA Documents Beyond the Hollywood Time Machine

What if we've been looking for time travel from the wrong perspective? You know, like we can only see it through the framework of the Hollywood movies we've been watching, for most of us, all of our lives.

I've been reading a great deal of "declassified" government documents on the subject, and let me tell you, well, I won't give it away right now, but it's more than interesting what they've been doing.

Let's step into the world of time travel from a different point of view and see if we can unlock something that doesn't follow the Hollywood script.

Like me, at least before I began my research around the subject of time travel, when you hear the words “time travel,” your mind probably immediately goes to a machine.

A DeLorean, a telephone booth, or maybe a glowing portal.

Some guy sitting inside a complicated metal contraption while the date on a digital display starts spinning backward.

Hollywood has spent decades teaching us what time travel is supposed to look like.

But what if our social conditioning around time travel is all wrong?

What if actual time travel—or more accurately, some form of temporal displacement—doesn't require a machine that looks like a time machine at all?

What if it is a change in spacetime itself?

That question is where my mind went after digging deeper into a series of Defense Intelligence Agency documents associated with the Advanced Aerospace Weapon System Applications program, or AAWSAP.

And before anyone jumps to the conclusion that I'm saying the government built a time machine, I'm not. I'm also not saying that they didn't either.

That's not what the documents establish.

What they do establish is considerably more interesting.

They show that government-funded researchers were examining theoretical technologies involving spacetime metric engineering, altered time rates, wormholes, negative energy, warp-drive concepts, and even theoretical mechanisms that could produce backward-in-time effects.

And if we've learned anything about our government, it's that there's no such thing as "full disclosure." You know, "In the name of national security," and whatnot.

Now stay with me, because the terminology is always where the secrets are unlocked.

Time Travel Doesn't Necessarily Mean Traveling Through Time

We've been conditioned to think of time as something that exists independently from space.

You have a location.

You have a clock.

You move from Point A to Point B.

And time simply ticks away in the background.

However Einstein's theory of relativity doesn't describe the universe exactly in that manner.

Space and time are interconnected as spacetime. That means if you can theoretically alter the geometry of spacetime, you're not necessarily just changing where something is.

You may also be changing how time behaves relative to something else.

And that's exactly the type of question examined in the 2010 DIA document “Advanced Space Propulsion Based on Vacuum (Spacetime Metric) Engineering.”

That particular document doesn't start by saying something like, “Here's how to build a time machine, or here's the way a functional time machine works.”

What It does is something vastly more interesting and important to this article.

The document asks what would happen if the spacetime metric could be artificially altered.

The document examines consequences including changes in time rates, effective mass, light propagation, gravity-like effects, and what it describes as an “accelerated timeframe” relative to an external reference frame.

Now we really need to slow down and think about that for a moment. I mean let that really sink in, because now we're not talking about a machine at all, at least not in the Hollywood sense. We're talking about something different.

An accelerated timeframe.

Not a machine that takes you into a glowing portal.

Not a Hollywood laboratory.

A change in the relationship between time inside one region and time outside that region.

That is a very different concept.

What If the “Vehicle” Is Actually the Spacetime Around It?

This is where I think our modern understanding may cause us to overlook something.

We tend to think of technology as something we build and then put ourselves inside.

An airplane has an engine.

A car has an engine.

A rocket has an engine.

So naturally, we imagine that some future time machine must have a mechanism that physically moves us through time.

However, with spacetime engineering, the idea changes from something physical with a seat to something that may never actually move at all. The declassified documents that I read suggest, at least from my point of view, that the object isn't needed to time travel because the environment is what shifts.
