1 month ago I published a post about an experiment I was running on FTX exchange, where I pitted two trading bot platforms against each other to see which would perform better. The two platforms are 3Commas and BitUniverse, both bots started with $100 and proceeded to trade using their respective algorithms. Click here to read the full details of how this battle was set up.
The Result
In short - round 1 is basically a draw. See the table below for the full breakdown of the numbers, which are also compared against what would hypothetically happen with a basic buy and hodl strategy.

Here is the breakdown of my current 3Commas funds.

And the breakdown of my BitUniverse funds.

Although it could be said that the BitUniverse bot led for most of the month, they are essentially even right now, with the 3Commas ahead by a few cents. I'm pleased to see that both bots outperformed the buy & hodl strategy as well, and if it wasn't for the recent crash, the overall PNL would look a lot better. If we extrapolate to a full year, the bots are providing an 18-20% API return, which is not too bad.
Next Round...
For now, I'll let both bots do their things, and check back again in one month to see if one can get a leg on the other, and perhaps make some strategic adjustments depending on what the BTC price looks like. For now though, my confidence in using bots has increased, so I expect I'll expand this series of posts to include more different kinds of bots and strategies.
Stay tuned for next month's update, and do check out my other posts, including my overview of FTX exchange, where this battle is being held.
Thank you for reading, and remember to enjoy the good things in life!
