Why I spent 19,000 DEC on cards in Splinterlands (and Where I got the DEC from)

Investing and playing Splinterlands can sometimes feel like running up a sand dune...you need to keep moving and it can feel like each step is harder than the last. But, at least for existing players (I am not sure about new players any more), I believe in the project and am especially excited about what might happen with Lands.

I have criticized the recent nerfing unto death of the beginner leagues. I think it is greedy and short-sighted but totally within the rights of the devs and older players to see it as logical. I think it might halt the growth of the player base unnecessarily, but what do I know? Devs and older players have a better perspective on the overall game strategy and history. I just know that it often sucks grinding for almost no reward haha! Hopefully new cards, new packs, new gameplay options, and the lure of mooning tokens and NFT prices, as well as the stability and longevity of the game continue to attract and reward players.

Despite my concerns, I have invested a lot (to me) in the game. I wanted to provide some details on where my investment came from. I hope it is clarifying and inspiring for folks out there.

Right now, I am sitting at almost nothing in DEC and not so many SPS. But, I have 15,035 in card power. You see, I recently went on a shopping spree getting cards to try to qualify for Silver league. Yesterday, I spent almost 19,000 DEC. That is a lot, and sometimes I wish I had cashed out for the $190 that pile of DEC was worth at its ATH this past week. But I have been working to build this stash for a couple of months. People might look at that stash and say the game has rewarded my grinding. NO! Or that I pulled amazing Legendary cards that I could sell for big bucks. NO!

Those DEC mostly came from an investment I decided to make of about $50 in buying Untamed card packs on Hive Engine when they were around $23-$26 each. I then sold those packs for $46+ and bought another one when prices dipped and sold that, too. Then I did it again because why not? That is where 90% of my DEC stash came from. As senior players will tell you, trading the vast universe of Splinterlands assets is part of the game, too (just not the game game if that makes sense).

That initial $50 came from grinding day in and day out on Cointiply, clicking the faucet, taking surveys and doing every Pay To Click ad I could watch. I should also mention that in looking through my Hive account I realized that I had spent $6 I earned playing Rising Star on DEC as well. So add that to the stash that created my current Splinterlands assets. That is $56 then, some trading, some grinding, and some shopping. According to Peak Monsters, my card deck is worth somewhere between $400 to $450. Not bad, right????

What this means, to me, is that while I see bigger adventures ahead for me in Splinterlands now that I clawed/bought my way out of Bronze, I was essentially able to build my DEC stash with FREE CRYPTO I got from grinding on other sites. That means ANYONE COULD DO IT! I hope that is the inspiring part.

In total, I have earned close to $300 from Cointiply since February, so I do believe that with a lot of time and a steady site like Cointiply (or your favorite generous faucet), we all can escape the Bronze Dungeon :)

This old article of mine on PubOx talks about what I earned in my first 100 days on Cointiply: https://www.publish0x.com/the-fascination/100-straight-days-in-the-faucet-forest-of-cointiply-what-did-xmknmyz

I mentioned 3 games/sites I used, so here are some referral links if you would like to try to repeat my experience.

If you are interested in joining Splinterlands, you can use my referral link. Just be aware that you will need to buy a $10 Spellbook. The only thing you get for that Spellbook is the opportunity to earn some of the in-game currency and NFTs. You do not get cards or NFTs of your own, but you can use a started deck of NFTs to fight in battles, and eventually earn through the grind. Or of course you can buy stuff with outside money.

If you want to do what I did, earning on Cointiply (truly free!), making money playing Rising Star (also truly free!) you can find referral links here.

Cointiply - http://cointiply.com/r/p9Gyy

Rising Star - https://www.risingstargame.com?referrer=pregosauce

GOOD LUCK!!
