Hello there, I see that you have found your way to my first blog post. Today I want to share my story and how my crypto-story began.
I am excited and hope that some of you will find it interesting. It is nothing special after all.

Everything began when I was still in school two years ago. A friend came up to us one day and told us he had bought Bitcoin. We had no clue about anything crypto-related so he told us what he had heard. But he didn't tell us about the blockchain or how the network is supported by thousands of independent agents across the globe. He told us about the asset side of Bitcoin. He had bought them as an investment and was sure that they were going to rise in price. He pulled up the price graph and showed us how it rose hundreds of percentage points in only a couple of years.

I was immediately sold. After talking about it all day with my friends, I went home and bought a small amount of Bitcoin.

I have to admit that that was a little stupid, buying Bitcoin after only hearing what my friend told me. And they had to sit there for a couple of years until I really learned to appreciate their beauty.

A few years pass and we're in 2020. The recent halvening event was just around the corner. People started to talk more and more about Bitcoin. Major investment funds wrote blog posts about cryptocurrencies and some media outlets informed the general public about what was happening. 

When I heard of what was happening, I tried to understand what it really means so I would be able to join the conversation. I read a lot online and watched many videos to comprehend what this "major event" was all about. It took a while to understand what was happening behind the scenes. After watching a video* from one of my favorite YouTuber 3Blue1Brown* I made the decision to step my Bitcoin game up and buy some more before the halvening happens.

After observing the Bitcoin price every day for a couple of weeks I began to sink more and more into the whole crypto-thing. I found out about recent altcoins and how those were different from Bitcoin, how they we all special in their own way.

At that time I found out about the Basic Attention Token that the Brave* browser uses. I decided to test it myself too see how it works and add some BAT into my (not so diversified) crypto portfolio.

I've been using Brave* for about a month now and have to say that I am really impressed. Not only is it faster than the browser I used before, it also blocks trackers and pays me for the ads I view. I feel like the whole concept is really thought through and makes a lot of sense. I will definitely keep using it in my day to day life (even with the small bugs it has from time to time) and make a couple of bucks a month extra. It's a wonderful way to include my newly found love for crypto into my daily life.

I feel like this is only the beginning of my crypto story. I will definitely keep an eye out for Bitcoin, altcoins and applications that combine crypto with my everyday life. It feels like the beginning of a new era, the Crypto-Era. I hope that the general public will look deeper into this topic, especially regarding recent events.
