In the digital age, it can be easy to get swayed by the enticing allure of cryptocurrency. The price volatility offers ample opportunity to make money. However, going back to the basics and holding precious metals like gold and silver are still a valid thing to do. It's just that you might not get the return on investment that you might see in cryptocurrency. 

Right now, the world is looking more and more dangerous. Wars seem to be springing up, causing fear. This is not good for those who want to invest into something they think will improve the world and for those in the war-torn countries. Technology like cryptocurrency requires an interconnected world to work well. On the other hand, precious metals like gold and silver can be used even if technology fails.

Gold and silver have long been used as currencies for several nations, and more recently they've been used as hedges against fiat currency. But when doom and gloom come over the world, people have a tendency to scramble for the precious metal. That is because in the worst of times, it can be used to barter and in the best of times, it can be sold for fiat currency or cryptocurrency. 

It is important to diversify our portfolio so that we are able to better weather bad situations around the globe. Becoming too heavily invested in one industry can cause tunnel vision into that industry which can be bad if that industry is negatively effected by local or global events. Cryptocurrency is great most of the time, but in a doomsday scenario, gold and silver definitely hold up better. That and non-perishable foods and weapons.
