Algorand is a very fast and cheap to use blockchain. I've used it a lot... Well until a few months ago when I made a stupid mistake. But up until that mistake, I used Algorand almost daily for various on-chain things. But recently there have been a lot of issues with the cryptocurrency and the community around it.
The first major problem has been that over the last few years, members of the community didn't like how the Algorand Foundation was deploying Algorand. They claimed that it was suppressing the price at the cost of the investor. This has compounded with a claim by members of the community that the Algorand Foundation has been giving away Algorand to projects that don't promote Algorand enough compared to the amount paid to them.
Other issues that plague Algorand has been the controversy around The Hillary Clinton Foundation and Algorand Foundation working together on the same project. The problem with this is that to many, it shows a political bias outside of promotion of cryptocurrency. Another issue, and most likely the most important issue has been the hack on MyAlgo Wallet. Many people lost all of their Algorand due to this hack. It is most likely the reason that Algorand's price has fallen so much. Millions of dollars worth of Algorand were stollen.
So, is Algorand a dying or dead blockchain? I don't think so, many projects are still building on the blockchain. It will definitely need time to recover, but until a rival that is as fast as Algorand and as cheap as Algorand comes along. I think that it will continue to chug along. Although the price right now is much much lower than it would have been had the hack not occurred and had the Algorand Foundation management not ran other people off.
Only time will tell what happens to Algorand. All that I know is that I'm still here for the ride since I still hold a few Algo myself. Best of luck to everyone still holding crypto in general!
