The Crypto_Gam3r Blog: Rollercoin Introduction and Week 1 Update

By crypto_gam3r | The Crypto_Gam3r Blog | 10 Sep 2021

Greetings Gamers!

Welcome to what will be my second regularly occurring post on The Crypto_Gam3r Blog, The Rollercoin Weekly Recap!

In these posts we will look at what my earnings are in the game, talk about strategy, and look at any news in the Rollercoin world.

Background:

Rollercoin has been around for awhile now, although I had not heard about it until my recent dive into crypto gaming, it is a essentially a crypto mining simulator where you play games and complete quests. As you play you earn mining power that is used to earn real cryptocurrencies such as Bitcoin, Ethereum, Dogecoin and Rollercoin's own token Rollertoken (RLT). You can then use RLT to purchase mining equipment, to increase your mining power, and thus increase how much cryptocurrency you are earning.  RLT is not currently available for trade outside the game.

(My empty mining room)

My goal with this game was to see if it is a profitable way to earn crypto without investing a single dime, which is what I will be documenting here.

I started playing on August 30th, 2021, so I am a little over a week in. Each week I will breakdown and record my account value and will update readers with my progress.

Account Value:

For this game I will be calculating account value by the value of in game assets, as well as crypto held in the account that I have earned. Now, because RLT is not available outside the game yet, this will have to be measured in cryptocurrency instead of dollars.

Here is where I am after week one:

As you can see there are not much earnings to speak of... in fact, its downright pathetic. So let me explain a little how we got here.

As stated in the background, you need to play games to earn coins which can then be used to purchase miners. Well, a little over one week and 384 games in and I haven't even made enough to buy a miner. This game is very grind dependent, and the amount of time needed to gain enough power to mine significant coins would be massive. Enough so, where it may not even be worthwhile to continue with this game.

However, I still am curious what is possible with it and there may be another path. So here is the strategy I will be taking moving forward.

Future Strategy:

1) Log in Daily.

Logging in each day gains you XP, as you gain XP your Level increases which earns you the Season Rewards. I am currently on Level 3 and it takes 100 XP to reach each level so far. If you log in for 7 straight days you will get 100 XP and go up a Level. Here is a look at XP rewards from logging in each day:

2) Complete Weekly Quests.

Completing weekly quests will also gain you XP to increase your Level, giving you a greater chance to earn the Season Rewards. Completing all Weekly Quests will give you 150 XP. The Weekly Quests are: play 25 games (10 XP), play 50 games (20 XP), play 150 games (40 XP), watch a video (10 XP), visit the Rollercoin Facebook page (5 XP), visit the Rollercoin Twitter page (5 XP), visit the Rollercoin Discord (5 XP), visit the Rollercoin Telegram page (5 XP), invite 1 user (10 XP), and finally complete all Weekly Challenges (40 XP).

3) Play at Least One Game Every 24 Hrs

As you win games you can level up your PC, which lets you keep mining power earned through playing games for longer. With the lowest level PC your power is only retained for 24 hours, where as the highest level PC your power is retained for a full week. Your PC level resets after 24 hours of not playing a game, so to get the most use of the power I earn form playing games I will need to log at least one game played every 24 hours.

4) Buy Miners With Earnings

As I earn RLT I can buy miners that will continuously mine coins, even if I don't feel like grinding through playing games. This seems like the real way to truly earn in this game and the aspect I am most interested in exploring. Is it possible to slowly earn miners and passively earn enough coins to make the game worth my time?

5) Benefit From Season Rewards

As I mentioned above, as you increase your Level through gaining XP, you earn Season Rewards. However, most Season Rewards are only available to players who have purchased an Event Pass for a whopping 149.99 RLT. So for now the rewards will be limited but still helpful. So far, I have earned two 8 Cell Metal Racks for my progress, a value of .3 RLT.

Here is the first set of Season Rewards, the Rewards with the lock on them are only for players with the Event Pass:

Conclusion:

Although my first week experience has me leaning towards this game just simply not being worth the time or investment needed to really see a good return, it is intriguing enough at this point for me to continue. There are a lot of players in this game that seem to think it is worth it, just take a look at the top player and compare their mining room to mine shown above:
