The Problem with Crypto Mining
|UPDATED 27/08/21|
Hello Crypto Universe! This year has brought many updates to the world of cryptocurrencies and has impacted many things. Crypto Mining is an exciting option for a supplementary passive income for tech savvy individuals. But this can come at a cost to an unlikely industry.
Gaming, an (very) unlikely target for the impact of Crypto Mining
Gaming. Specifically PC gaming.
Why you guys may ask. It is a very simple conclusion to get to if you connect the dots.
Why such a bold statement?
Here's why. NVIDIA has been vastly unable to keep up with the demand for its GPU's (Graphics Processing Units) from consumers. This has largely been influenced by the excuse everyone is using, *cough cough* COVID-19, and also rich-pocketed people using them for Crypto-Mining.
Why is this so bad?
News flash. NVIDIA graphics card are for gaming! NVIDIA themselves have said, GPU's are for gaming, not for crypto-mining. Prospective PC builders have been unable to find components for their PC at MRSP without having to shell out thousands of dollars for a decent GPU or settle for a older model or a ex-mining GPU that has been overclocked to hell and is on their last legs.
But why all this fuss? Why care about this?
I get your point. But, everyone should be able to enjoy NVIDIA products for their intended use without being hindered with the lack of stock caused by Greedy (I say this extremely lightly) Crypto-Miners with money to blow.
Conclusion:
I will say this to the nay-sayers who object to allowing avid-gamers to have access to good quality GPU's without deprivation from rich people trying to make a quick buck.
