My Husband Wants to Invest 2 Million Dollars Into Bitcoin! What Should I Do?

By Buzzbeeg | The Crypto Cave | 18 Aug 2020

Don't put all your Eggs in one place, speculate to accumulate, good luck!! This is all my opinion and I am just a guy on the internet. This is not financial advice and I am not a financial adviser.

I have no idea how much you guys are worth. Is 2 million dollars all of your excess savings? If you lost 2 million dollars would you guys be ok? I would ask this question before investing 2 million dollars into anything. I don't believe in putting your life savings into one asset class. I assume that you can afford to lose 2 million dollars and your life won't crumble. Otherwise, why would your husband even consider this?

Big Swings

Crypto has huge upsides and downsides. In May 2016 you could have purchased Bitcoin for 450 dollars. December 2017 you could have sold it for 19,000 dollars. That would be a 42x return in about one year! However, the price of Bitcoin dropped to a low of 3300 dollars from that 19,000! That is an 87% loss! Crypto has high loss and high reward.

Big Picture

If you watch the history of Bitcoin it has pumped and then dumped but has never dumped lower than where it was before it pumped. Case in point before Bitcoin's major bull run of 2017 the coin was valued at 450 dollars. It is now at 3900. Had you purchased Bitcoin in 2016 and held it you would still be up 7x.

I personally think the best way to understand crypto and its price is to compare it to technology adoption and not to the stock market. The more people use crypto the more valuable it becomes. If you look at the adoption of previous technologies like the internet, computers, and the automobile that will  probably give you a better idea of the crypto market than anything else.

The crypto market is new. Many people think they lost their chance of growing their wealth with crypto but they are wrong. The technology still has a lot of growth in it; in fact, we are at the beginning. When the next wave of adoption hits crypto we will see huge price spikes.

I think that provided you guys have the money and are determined not to panic sell but to instead hold on to it for long term growth there is a lot of money that can be made.
