Where Da Heck Is Kazakhstan?

What's Kazakhstan Got To Do With It?

You've probably heard by now about the sudden uprising in Kazakhstan and you're probably also wondering, 'where the heck is Kazakhstan?'. Some people, including me, are wondering, 'what's Kazakhstan got to do with it?'. Most people have never heard of this place, what its culture is or where it's located on the world map. Take my word for it though, Kazakhstan's got a lot to do with it!

Did you know that Kazakhstan is the world's largest land locked country. Located in west central Asia, its borders are shared with Uzbekistan, Turkmenistan, Kyrgyzstan, Russia and China. Russia and China??? Well, I'll Be!

Kazakhstan produced $46.9 Billion in exports in 2020, a 27.7% increase since 2016. Roughly half of exports went to Europe and the other half to Asia with China buying 19% of the total. Almost nothing reached North America, Latin America and Australia.

Their top ten exports in order:

  1. Mineral fuels (oil)
  2. Iron, steel
  3. Ores, slag, ash
  4. Copper
  5. Inorganic chemicals
  6. Cereals
  7. Gems, precious metals
  8. Zinc
  9. Aluminum
  10. Milling products (malt, starches)

One commodity that, surprisingly, did not make the top ten is Uranium. Kazatomprom is the largest Uranium producer in the world, accounting for a whopping 23% of global output in 2020. I'm sure the turmoil that has suddenly sprung in Kazakhstan has nothing to do with Europe getting ready to label Nuclear energy as 'green'. So far, Kazatomprom has stated no interruptions to their mining activities.

What is on the list above is oil. Kazakhstan is a major oil producer with its daily output amounting to about 1.5 million barrels per day. Chevron is the largest foreign producer and runs Kazakhstan's largest oil field, Tengiz. On January 6, the company announced 'temporary' reductions in output as a result of the unrest. Apparently, protestors have disrupted train lines used to move their oil.

Hmmm, uranium and oil. Those are some very important natural resources. Also, according to worldometers.com,  Kazakhstan is the 24th largest natural gas producer in the world.

And did you know, according to Wikipedia (yea, I know), Kazakhstan was the 15th largest gold producer in 2018 (last known data) with 68 tonnes of gold produced?

It sure looks like Kazakhstan is chock full of resources.

There have also been rumors that Kazakstan's capitol, Astana is the secret center of the 'New World Order'. It even has its own White House. Some say it's gas prices doubling overnight that has sparked the unrest but is there something else going on here?

Now, with Russia sending in paratroopers to quell unrest, Russia (and likely China) might find itself being dragged into another 'Afghanistan', where Russia, back in the 80's, mired itself in a ten year war that many say bankrupted the U.S.S.R. which led to its eventual breakup.

Russians know that Kazakhstan is huge. You can easily fit a dozen European countries into its land mass so good luck to Russian paratroopers who are sure to be spread so thin, making them easy targets.

Kazakhstan started the new year by doubling gas prices which resulted in protests across the country and the resignation of the entire government, except its defiant President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, who gave security forces 'shoot to kill without warning orders' on Friday. He's got a lot on his hands now, doesn't he?

It appears there's more to this story and we can be sure the lying media isn't going to tell us the truth. Is Kazakhstan the first domino? Which country is next? Germany? France? Italy? Canada or the USA? All peoples around the world are under intense pressure and if the pressure cooker doesn't let out steam, it explodes. There's a very real possibility this uprising could spread around the world.

Keep an eye on this story as it develops.

Interesting tidbit:

Baikonur Cosmodrome, located in Kazakhstan, is Russia's primary space launch site. That is, until the Vostochny Cosmodrome construction is completed in Russia's far-east. I saw one dated article that stated completion come be in 2018 and another article stated 2020. Not sure when it will actually be completed.
