I like cats. Cats are great. Lately there’s been a large Siamese cat staying in our backyard pretty much all day every day. Whenever a new animal comes into the backyard and starts spending time there I like to get friendly with it if I can, whether it’s a bird, a squirrel, or a cat.
This cat has been spending so much time in our backyard we weren’t sure if it had a home so we decided to start feeding it, just a little with kibbles, just to make sure it was getting some food. Whenever I brought a bowl of kibbles out to it, it always happily dove in. I don’t know if it’s getting food somewhere else… I’m guessing it is, but I’m not sure what kind of food… but it always seems quite happy to have the kibbles that I offer.
We were even thinking of bringing the cat into the house and getting it cleaned up, but that’s when we really noticed something. It sprays. Everywhere. It walks by a clump of grass and sprays. It walks by another clump of grass and sprays. I’ve seen it spray on the neighbor’s house. When it came up onto the deck in the photo you see here, it even took the time to spray on one of the plant pots.
I had to go out later and scrub the pot clean with cleanser not only so it wouldn’t stink, but also to make sure it wouldn’t scare off any of the other little critters that like to come onto the deck to get some bird seed and water. With behavior like that, there’s no way we could let it into the house because it would just spray on everything.
And so, it’s earned the name Mr. Tinkles.
