If you look into our past, a lot of our sci-fi media has some sort future has a sort of digital currency that is used throughout the world. Life imitates art and vice versa so today, we are in the wild west of any one of those possible futures. Volatility is high, everyone is attempting to shape their own path to freedom, there's snake oil making false promises of life changing overnight results and there's literal highway men lying in wait of their next target. We are very much in the early days of crypto and once the gold rush is over, things will stabilise and genuine industries will begin to emerge. Caution should be taken however, and lessons from history should be learnt that only a few coins from today's top page will have lasted and some of not most will have disappeared into the addles of time with new improved projects in their place.

Some government's are looking to move towards a centralised digital currency too and it's as a result over the fear of decentralised currencies shifting the balance of power and social dynamics as well as public interests and goals. This shows that the Wild West days may not be in our sights for much longer. It's so far been a journey and we've still got a ways to go but a crypto future is definitely in our horizon.
