With March 4th rapidly approaching the Acting Sergent at Arms for Congress has sent out an alert to all Members and their staffers. Given the rioting that occurred at the Capitol on January 6th the thought of further QAnon protests occurring is rather concerning, to say the least. March 4th has been the rumored date of possible further protesting my anxiety has been going up with each passing day.
The reason for the possible protesting on March 4th is due to QAnon and other far-right groups believing an idea that since the election loss Donald Trump would be inaugurated as President on March 4th. March 4th is significant due to it being the historical date of the Presidental inagueration until the 20th Amendment in 1933 changed it to the date it is now, January 20th. Initially, there was a lot of talk from the right-wing groups to "welcome" President Trump. This is believed to be the biggest reason that we still have a 3 mile long unscalable fence around the Capitol Complex and 5,000 National Guard Troops almost 3 months after the riots occured.
New intel though released to staffers last night informed us that over the last few days the significance of the date has died down and at this time there are no indications that groups will be traveling to DC to protest. Until this day passes though they are going to be posting more National Guard members around the Capitol. Also, there will be an increased presence of TSA, Federal Air Marshals, and Washington Metropolitan Airports Authority at the airports to provide extra security for Congressional Members.
While there is no reason given to us about why there has been a drop in chatter about this day I am of the belief that it could be due to Former President Trump speaking at the Conservative Political Action Conference (CPAC). There he stated that he was not forming a third party. This commitment to not fracture the Republican Party I feel will allow for cooler head to prevail and avoid anymore crazy activity like we saw in January. At least that is my hope that everyone just takes a step back and takes a breath.
