It is often said that a picture is worth a thousand words. What an understatement, particularly with regard to the portrait. In it's simplest form a portrait is a likeness just as on a passport, it reveals nothing but the distinguishing features of a face. At a deeper level however a portrait can reveal much more. It can show emotion or tell us something about the life of a person, what they do, what they like, how they live and who or what they would like to be. Let's begin!
