Splinterlands - Weekly Battle Challenge, Dark Ha'on

Splinterlands - Weekly Battle Challenge, Dark Ha'on

By Silver Crypto | Tales of the Crypt0 | 11 Aug 2021

Splinterlands Weekly Battle Challenges - A lot of fun, encourages use of cards you might not use often, but saddening if you don't have access to the card.  At least that's how I felt till recently as a number of the challenges I didn't have the card for so I didn't bother giving it a shot.

First things first, feel free to just go to their website directly but if Splinterlands interests you I'd be very happy if you joined up with my referral link:

Notwithstanding what I said in the intro there is a solution! - Card Rentals - the last couple of challenges I had access to the card but this week I did not.  Afterall how many people have a big legendary card like the Dark Ha'on? Card Rentals is the answer - sadly it could be expensive (Not too bad this week at 28 DEC for the day) but at least it wasn't Kron the Undying (175 DEC rent per day minimum!)

Battle Challenge of the week -

Feature Card - Dark Ha'on

I generally enjoy the Dark Splinter but one issue they have sometimes is the many low health cards you may have to use and protecting them.  The Dark Ha'on is a good (albeit high mana cost) solution as it has a high health (13 health, One armor) has the Taunt ability (great for protecting other cards) and is a Flying card so has some built in evasion to support it's three speed.  A two melee attack is useful too.

Due to the high mana cost Dark Ha'on might not work but it is definitely a tank worth using if you have access to him!

The Battle

This battle had a cap of 25 and the stipulation was Broken Arrows (no ranged attackers) which does weaken the flight ability (Flight only works on non flyers that are melee or ranged based).

Summoner was Zintar Mortalis (A starter summoner and one of the best - reducing melee attack by one can make some enemy lineups impotent)

Dark Ha'on was up front (to tank of course - with Zintar reducing melee damage and the taunt ability going he should protect the team and last a while).

Cursed Slimeball in slot two (hes just taking up a spot in the lineup but could be a small roadblock if Dark Ha'on dies).

Creeping Ooze next (to reduce speed of the enemy and help Dark Ha'on dodge due to his three speed and flying ability)

Ancient Lich in slot four (a staple in death lineups that have a high enough mana cap.  If he survives a while he'll have a nice health pool to defend should Dark Ha'on die).

Skeleton Assassin in the last slot (hes a got sneak and is fast and fit the mana cap and would only be better if he had more attack or life).

The opponent went with a Dragon team and Brighton Bloom as his summoner (flight for all!)

Haunted Spirit in front slot to tank (one of the most common death tanks as he has the heal ability and with Flight can dodge too!  Since Dark Ha'on is a flyer too that mitigates the impact for me though!

Cursed Slimeball and Creeping Ooze in slots two and three respectively probably for the same reason as my team. Both of us with the Ooze ends up cancelling them out.

Death Elemental in slot four - a solid magic sniper

Enchanted Pixie in slot five - a filler magic attacker

Prismatic Energy at the back - a really good backline tank with magic reflect (good for any pesky magic sneakers) and a high health!

And on to the battle:

Turn One - A pin prick hit by the Skeleton Assassin on the Prismatic Energy, three magic attacks and one melee attack on Dark Ha'on reduces his life to 10 and removes his armor.  Dark Ha'on and Ancient Lich do a combined five damage to Haunted Spirit but he heals two so will start turn two with four life.

Turn two - another pin prick on prismatic energy, Haunted Spirit goes down to Dark Ha'on and Ancient Lich who get their attacks in before he can heal again.  Dark Ha'on takes three magic attacks but dodges the Cursed Slimeball so will start turn three on seven life.

Turn three - and another pin prick on prismatic energy (it'll be a long battle if the assassin was the only attacker!).  Cursed Slimeball and Creeping Ooze for the enemy get taken out by Dark Ha'on and Ancient Lich.  Dark Ha'on takes three more magic damage and will start turn four with four health (its going down but he's tanking well).  On a side note Ancient Lich is now up to seven life so if everything went bad he'd survive a while.

Turn four - yet another pin prick while Dark Ha'on and Ancient Lich take out the Dark Elemental and the Enchanted Pixie. Dark Ha'on only took one shot as the Dark Elemental got killed before he got to attack so Dark Ha'on will start with three health on turn five.  Only the Prismatic Energy remains.  The battle is all over as it's not going to be just the Skeleton Assassin pin pricking him now!

Turn five/six - the Prismatic Energy just survives turn five but somewhat fittingly it's the Skeleton Assassin with is pin of doom taking it out first thing on turn six!

And that's another battle challenge done and another battle won.

With that, its a wrap - hope you enjoyed my this Weekly Battle Challenge post! And if you're interested in Splinterlands or any of the other programmes I've looked at please join up if you haven't already for fun, excitement and maybe a little Crypto in your pocket!
