Splinterlands - Weekly Battle Challenge, Cave Slugs

As always I'm having fun with Splinterlands and most recently the Weekly Battle Challenges -of which this post is another one!

First things first, feel free to just go to their website directly but if Splinterlands interests you I'd be very happy if you joined up with my referral link:

Battle Challenge of the week -

Feature Card - Cave Slugs

Life is one of the tougher splinters for me - I've only really got the base cards but luckily the Cave Slugs are a base card thats free to play!

Cave slugs I've used in the past since they're free and I've always liked the Opportunity ability.  Anyone whose played any games where you kill things knows that more often than not getting something dead is better than letting it get an extra move in!

The Battle

This battle had a cap of 23 and the stipulation was Reverse Speed - good for Cave Slugs with their very sluggish (pun intended) 1 speed.

Summoner was Mother Khala (A starter summoner and I generally think +1 life is better than +1 armor).

I put up Shield Bearer up front (love the taunt ability to protect the rest of the team) and pair him up with Armor Smith (2nd spot) and Divine Healer (last spot).  This I find is quite a fun combo and in some battles can make Shield Bearer unkillable.  Armor smith was in second spot to be a small damage soak should the Shield Bearer die and Divine healer at the back for the same reason (in case the opposition had a number of sneak attackers).

Cave Slugs were of course in the team (in 3rd spot) with Herbalist in spot 4 since it cost 2 and fitted in nicely.

The opponent went with a fire team with the furious chicken soak and two strong range attackers.

Pyre (for the speed boost) - Now I'm not sure what the opposition was thinking but Pyre in a Reverse Speed match seems counter productive but good for me!

Furious Chicken for the free damage soak in first slot, then the standard fire tank Living Lava in slot 2.  Two strong ranged attackers, Mantoid and Cyclops filled the team out.

Turn 1 - Cave slugs take out the Furious chicken immediately then Herbalist is stuck now being a damp squib unable to do any damage to Living Lava.  Fortunately both Shield Bearer and Cave Slugs have 2 attack so will be able to take the Living lava out.  Living Lava, Mantoid and Cyclops lay the smackdown on Shield Bearer but Armor Smith and Divine Healer mitigate the damage nicely.

Turn 2/3 - Shield Bearer keeps chipping away at Lava while the Slugs start taking out Mantoid.  Herbalist is still useless. Armor Smith and Divine healer continue to mitigate the 7 damage he can put on Shield Bearer.

Turn 4 - Slugs take out the Mantoid and I know there's no chance Lava and Cyclops will take out ShieldBearer.

It takes till Turn 6 to take out Living Lava and then Cyclops goes down easily in Turn 7.

And that's another battle challenge done and another battle won.

With that, its a wrap - hope you enjoyed my this Weekly Battle Challenge post! And if you're interested in Splinterlands or any of the other programmes I've looked at please join up if you haven't already for fun, excitement and maybe a little Crypto in your pocket!
