What is Prospectors?

Prospectors is a Massive Blockchain Economics simulator with thousands of players.  It is a game where you use your brain to earn or lose real gold.  There is a lot of math in the game to be successful.  You must use the tools provided to be successful.  It has helped me in my real life through all of the smart people I have come into contact with.  It is an amazing learning tool that I would recommend to all high school students and anyone else who is interested in learning and growing in the world of blockchain.  I use the game as my daughter's math class.  I use the communities to learn more about various crypto assets.

Prospectors can be played as free to play or pay to play.  Spending $5-10 USD to start out will help you get a quicker start.  Making friends and alliances help you move even faster.  Just like in real life, if you come to the table broke, then it takes much longer to succeed.  You have to work without tools until you can afford to buy them.  With tools the mining rate is sped up 10 fold.  It is fairly easy to recoup your small investment within a week.  Then you will have the tools you need to get the good jobs.  Coming in with no investment and working without friends can take a month or more before you have a good set of tools for all of your workers and start earning and learning the real way to play this game. 

I recommend not spending much to get started.  If you do spend, just get each of your workers a couple tools each.  Look at the jobs board and decide which tools would work best for you.  A certificate is also another important early one time purchase.  This will allow you to work for 300 minutes before resting instead of just 60.  Don't bother with premium until you are running multiple lots.  You really need to learn the mechanics before you start spending or you can lose quite a bit of money investing where you should not.  Also, this game just might not be for you for one reason or another.  Spend a week or two getting familiar with the game and get some tools and your certificate before jumping into the deep water.

And the deep water is almost in sight.  ANY DAY NOW.  You will have plenty of opportunity to invest so get ready.

What is the Current State of Prospectors?

Prospectors has been running for about 2 years now.  It is still in beta.   Currently there are 2 servers running and you can play one account in each server.  The Wax server is known as Yukon and the EOS server is know as the Wild West.   You will need a wallet for each.  I use the Wax Cloud Wallet for Yukon and Wombat for Wild West.  There are other options available. 

When you sign up for the games and wallets, be sure to write everything down.  It can get confusing if you don't.  Many people have issues a month down the road when they have forgotten how they have signed in.   The game does many things automatically so it is easy to forget. 

There have been two 60 day temporary lands so far.  On EOS it was called Tombstone and on Wax it was Eagle city.

The economy is very slow as we get ready for The Grand New Land.   Wages are down but the gold is worth more.   How much is the gold worth?  Currently PGL, which is the tradable token, sits at 5-6 cents.  There is 1000 game gold per PGL.  Current earnings for a 5 hour shift are about 800 gold.   With 3 workers on each of the 2 servers you are earning about 25 cents per shift or about a dollar a day if you are doing it right.  Paltry sum.  many expect PGL to double or more in the next month as the grand new land is released.  We will see.  It has already gone up 1000% since I bought in.

What is This About the Grand New Land?

The developers have been working hard to figure out the economy and create a situation where the value of PGL continues to rise.  With the bulk of the resources mined out in the 2 permanent worlds, the natives are getting restless.  So the devs introduced Tombstone then Eagle City to pump in some more resources.  It was exciting but did not add any value to PGL.  

So next up is the Grand New Land.  We first got news of this new land in March of 2021.  The current lands contain a grid of 54 x 54 squares.  These lands are connected by a rail that runs twice a day.  You can send resources and PGL between lands pretty easily.  

The Grand New Land will be a grid of 100 x 100 with a total of 10000 new properties.  This is about 4 times as big.  There will be a total of 70 million PGL distributed between 1000 of the 10000 squares.  200 plots with 100,000 PGL, 400 with 75,000 PGL, and 400 with 50,000 PGL.  

That gives you a 1 in 10 chance to score a lot worth $2500+ USD. 

A 1 in 50 chance of scoring a lot worth $5000+ USD.

There will also be other resources on the other plots to harvest.  This means Gold, Coal, Clay, and Ore mines. 

It means all types of buildings being constructed. 

It means you can expect far higher wages early as the competition will be fierce.  By just being a nomad and not owning any plot I believe you will be able to earn $5 or more per day in the start of this world.  If you spring for a lot you will be able to earn (or lose) much more.

That amount of gold is currently worth over $3.5 million USD!

Will You Get Your Share?

Land in the Wild West and Yukon are only available to rent. 

The Grand New Land brings in the newest craze ... NFT's ... into the picture. 

You will own any parcel you purchase with no rent due. 

You will be able to mine and do business without having the time restraint of rent every month. 

So you can work it yourself, with a friend or two, or hire out ... it is up to you.

The Grand New Land has many unknowns

While we know the size of the map and a few other details, many questions are still left unanswered. 

How Large will the other resource deposits be?  Will Trees or any other resources regenerate?  What will the new mining rates be?

Will there be any new resources?  Will we have more industries?  

There has been much speculation as to the use of Moss, which was released last year.  Will it be for a new industry or supplement an old one?  Historically, moss has been used in Gold Mining as well as Silver Mining.  There has also been speculation that it could be important to a new horse and donkey industry.  I definitely believe we will get another industry with this release.  My bets lie with the horses and donkeys.  Go figure since I am currently a coffee magnate.  Will the possible new horse and donkey industry kill the coffee industry?  What do you think?

How much will it cost to own a land?

We do not know yet.  Speculation for the NFT's have people guessing between $10 USD and $150 USD per NFT plot.  

There is also an auction for the plots in the center.  I expect auction prices to be pretty high as the game has been onboarding new players pretty rapidly of late.  I have also noticed a couple new whales jumping in. 

The first sale is scheduled mid May and here we are in the last week of May. 

So any day now. 

It is not known if the sale will be in PGL or Wax.  They generally give a few days after an announcement to get your funds in order so be ready.

Alliances will form to run entire industries.
