Shapeshift is a company turned DAO that offers one of the fastest ways to exchange a variety of crypto assets via web and mobile platforms. The company was created by Eric Voorhees in 2013 and can be used anywhere in the world except in New York and North Korea. 

The Shapeshift exchange platform enables anyone to quickly exchange crypto assets with one another in a safe and secure fashion. Shapeshift has a strict “no fiat” policy, meaning users cannot buy/sell crypto with debit/credit cards, bank transfers etc. The platform offers fast and easy crypto-to-crypto exchange directly from a users personal crypto wallet when they connect it to the platform. 

The way Shapeshift works is; users simply specify the type of cryptocurrency they would like to exchange and where to send the exchange coins to. Once Shapeshift receives the crypto you would like to exchange for another, it exchanges them and sends the new crypto to your specified address. The exchange rate used by Shapeshift is derived from several notable crypto exchange platforms and always stays the same. When exchanging coins, the user can choose to do a Quick or Precise order. A Quick order does not require the user to specify how much of the wanted coin is required, they simply send any amount they would like exchanged. The Precise order requires the user to enter the exact amount of coins they would like to receive and tells them how much crypto to send to the platform. The Precise order type provides users with a better rate.

ShapeShift supports over 50 digital assets and is continuously adding support for more. Users can exchange crypto assets via the web-based platform, the ShapeShift mobile app, or via various crypto wallets with built-in ShapeShift support.
