📖 openlibrary.org
The ultimate goal of the Open Library is to make all the published works of humankind available to everyone in the world. Interesting features:
- A project by Internet Archive
- Read / Download ebooks
- available books will have an open book "read" icon next to them
- Borrow ebooks (you can access them for a limited period in time – e.g. 2 weeks)
- for registered users only
- available books will have a "borrow" closed book icon next to them
-
The Internet Archive and participating libraries have selected digitized books from their collections that are available to be borrowed by one patron at a time from anywhere in the world for free. BookReader editions may be read online immediately in your web browser. No special software is required. Other editions are managed through Adobe Digital Editions and will require software installation on your device.
- Books that have a "lock" icon next to them are only available to those who are visually impaired and registered with the National Library Service of the Library of Congress (US)
- Many different subjects (check the book explorer)
- Create (https://openlibrary.org/books/add) new records or improve existing ones for the books you love (every record is editable)
