GAMING TOP TEN - Friday Night Funkin' Mods Pt 1

By AsAboveSoBelow | Subroutines | 3 Aug 2021

Gamers! It's time...

The list you never knew you needed. Here's my breakdown of my ten (personal) favorite mods of, ninjamuffin69's

*Friday Night Funkin'!*

[For those out of the loop];

Starting off as any unsuspecting rhythm game from Ludum Dare 47, FNF has quickly grown to acclaim with it's deep lore and subplots.

Quickly the game has grown into a massive Sub-Newgrounds-esque cult following. With many excellent mods rising from seemingly nowhere (and a popular youtuber).

With that out of the way, this *will* be a two-parter, just for convenience sake.

10. TBBI by MaliciousBunny and EZHALT (NSFW, At least with the mod name)

This mod introduces an excellent horror aesthetic with it's excellent DnB styled rhythm.

The main character, BF, now must face a literal troll-faced apparition, named Trollege, that wants to do nothing but cause chaos and *troll* the ever-living heck out of you.

...Wait. What's he doing with that axe...?050fb10b0fe1dca62019ab2ee286d6a0b0e42320de108dbe4e2c4d60455f626f.png

Definitely, with it's notes of complexity, and hints of Lovecraftian literature, it is a must play for any FNF or even rhythm game fans.

9. Smoke 'em Out (Garcello) by Atsuover & Rageminer

If you like sad stories, then this one might be a bit more up your *alley*, if you'll pardon the pun.672b04d274a739a7ba472435d215a7e7bfe6472c484b7a8f23340fb1ac525365.png

A lone stranger offers a cigarette. You politely decline. But you notice his health starting to worsen...

Great tunes in this one. And the feels. Play it for yourself and find out.

8. The Lemon Demon Fix by ChaoticGamerCG on Reddit

Now, this is truly an unusual tale. Without spoiling too much, A character was left unused due to difficulty mapping it to one of the *only songs* in the *game* to have lyrics.

An excellent Reddit wizard known as ChaoticGamerCG issued a fully mapped, and playable Lemon Demon rework to the games files.

So, even the creator himself, reached out and asked to use it. Even calling the mod "blessed".

I'd say that's some super wholesome stuff from the FNF fanbase, which this level of wholesome is contrast to the vibes this "mod" allows us to finally experience it, which is a foreboding experience within itself.faba171542db35ed21efa30e46416fce0e80f6ce34e9e1c7cb2a69d2ce24cfd0.png

With that said, you should try this one.

6. Whitty by Nate Anim8

From the unknown depths, a creation came. It's origins are still being discovered. As a sentient weapon with a *literal fuse* sticking out of this mad lads head.

Introducing...9d5c56b0c28708e6bd572a8d4590927cf186975666b14ad8db4eb11481b6db29.png

Whitty! He's being hunted by a Cloud Humanoid named Updike, who is not entirely said *why* he is hunting Whitty, or what his motives are.

I love this mod... but something tells me somethin' kaizo levels is about to go *down* here...

Give this a try if you're looking for a challenge!

5. VS Zardy by SwankyBox & Friends

Someone on YouTube, who's content I can't get enough of at least during my free-time, is SwankyBox.

If you're not in the know, Swanky and a few of his developer buddies created an Indie Horror title, named Zardy's Maze.

Thus to make the list of mods for this game even more *kaizo-level* difficult,

Here's objectively, one of the hardest mods on this list. (But not the hardest by far.)e302baa1d8479486e6782d0822e73a821d86688cada92760ac9a96f07a1e5496.png

VS Zardy! The songs are pretty well put together, however I much more enjoyed the animations they gave Zardy.

At least this time he isn't chasing you...

And that does it for part one! Keep your eyes peeled for part 2, drop some feedback in the comments, and maybe tell me of *your* favorite FNF mod if you have one!
