Don't get me wrong here. ok? I know that change is inevitable. There are no exceptions in the tech industry either, so we need to learn to adapt to it. But why destroy working systems, claiming you are updating them? You see, five to ten years ago, the Internet was fine. You could find what you search for right on the first results page. But now sometimes you can't find the right result in the first five pages. Even if you specifically say you want to find something on a certain website, the search engine doesn't do that. I suspect they push paid content.

Now you can't even find a good classic movie to watch. The results you get have too many redirections, too many ads. Downloading, on the other hand, is a different story. You can't find a website to download anything these days. Even if you speciffically say "download" in the search term, you won't get any results that have download pages. The search engine shows only a few nonsense websites with a few sentences, and that's all. You can't get what you are looking for these days. Feels so restricted, you know. But as I can recall, a few years ago Internet wasn't like this. Or should I say Google wasn't like this?

The only logical thing I can think of for this behaviour is legal issues. But I highly doubt it because I haven't seen a headline like that. Maybe I missed something. Other than that, another reason I can think of is someone bigger and richer paying Google to "hide" certain results from their search engine. It's only a conspiracy theory, though. What do you think about that?

Also, what is your take on "AI overview" being the first result in almost all things we search on Google? Don't you feel like it's an unfair advantage that they have put AI before every human-made website? Sometimes I wonder, can you pay Google to place your website at the top of the search results? not as an ad but as an organic search result.

Not gonna lie, though, that "AI overview" feature can save you countless hours of going through web pages. Only if you know what you are searching for, though. For example AI overview can help you with confirming your information in an assignment. But you have to have some knowledge in the field to use AI properly. You shouldn't just blindly accept what AI results tell you. So my suggestion is to go through a few different websites if you don't know what you are talking about. Also, books are still a great tool, too. Most experts put their life's worth of research and information into those books. So use them.
