The Rules Of Crypto - E01

By IggyDotDev | Storylines | 20 Oct 2022

Recently I was looking at how I was tracking on my "portfolio" and I had a "oh noes" moment... I just saw how much I could have, if I had taken out profits regularly and not hodling. And yes, I put portfolio with quotes because is not really a big one. Probably between cents and pennies after trying to get something from free faucets, crypto games, lending, staking, and even blogging.

Because of this "I could have", I decided to start writing about the rules, dos and don'ts on the crypto landscape. Many people would say "oh well I already knew that" but are they doing it or do they need someone to remind them about this? One long term goal of mine is to get better at writing so to me this is a good opportunity to try to master that skill and at the same time share this valuable information with the rest of the audience. If this serves you at any point in time, that all that matters to me. I hope to get this into episodic series of posts.

One last thing, and it's a sort of mandatory one as many people talking about crypto out there mention this. I am not a financial advisor. This content is purely educational and entertainment purposes. Seek professional advice if you are looking to do some investments.

So, with no further do, let's jump to the first rule:

Just invest what you can afford to loose

This is the most important one of all rules. You don't want to put all you salary, earnings or even savings into crypto. The reason being that the crypto landscape changes heavily and violently. There is a lot of volatility. Some people even tag this rule of non being accurate, as it should be Just GAMBLE what you can afford to loose. They are not right, but they are not wrong either.

If you think about it investing is a high risk strategy in comparison to getting you salary into a savings account, and for some, they will only start investing when they feel they have already build up an good enough emergency cash in their savings account.

I would however say that it is possible to actually invest or start with crypto with 0 money upfront. Let's have a look at different to get our feet into the crypto waters.

Publishing content:
You have to look no further, here on publish0x you can earn crypto from tipping authors. It doesn't work as a curation of the good quality content but it rewards everyone: the authors (like myself) who took the time and effort to write content down, and the readers who actually spent (hopefully) time reading the article or post.

Gaming:
There are also some games which you can earn crypto for free and I guess we will cover this in much more detail in another post. Just from the top of my head the ones I could think as easy ways to earn crypto are:

- Rollercoin (https://bit.ly/iggy-rollercoin)
- Bitcoinmaniagame (https://bit.ly/iggy-bitcoinmania)
- Splinterlands (https://bit.ly/iggy-splinterlands)

As an FYI, I just added the referral link there. These might help you to get some bonuses, and by using them, will encourage and help me to continue posting

Video:
Another example would be JungleTV, where you could earn some free crypto just by checking out some videos. Pretty sure there are many other platforms that offer the same functionality (maybe odysee with LBRY?)

Social media
There are tons of social media platforms where you can earn crypto: noise.cash, read.cash, hive, Leofinance, Torum, ...

Faucets:
I could lastly point people out to the free faucets. These ones however are tricky, because it will take ages before you can try to get something out as they required a minimum amount to qualify for a withdrawal. Not great.

As I said, invest only what you can afford to loose. This does not mean you need to start with an investment. You can build it gradually starting with different options.

Well, I really hope you enjoyed the content and I will see you on the next post of the rules of crypto.

Iggy out!
