Tomorrow when Steam allows it, I am going to buy OOTP 24. The plan is to also get PT plus for at least 2 months and up to 4 months.
I will be managing the Reds when I stream the game. Also, planning to GM the A's for a YouTube series. Hopefully I can get through 2 seasons with the Reds and 8 to 10 with the A's.
I did a straw poll to determine which team I GM. I grew up a fan of the Reds and therefor, didn't want to fail as the GM for the Reds. Also, didn't want to GM a different NL team. The straw poll included the teams in the three AL divisions that finished 4th and 5th in real life in 2022. The poll got a lot more votes than I expected. The A's won that vote be a fairly good margin. There was a team that was a clear-cut 2nd place. Hopefully there is a don't get fired button that I can enable as I don't really want to GM multiple teams. If I do get fired, I will start over with the team that was 2nd place in the straw poll.
PT plus is for Perfect Team. PT is a mode of play where you construct a team with players you get from packs of cards. PT plus provides advantages to players of PT. I will be doing PT as well. The plan is to start it sometime on Sunday. The plan is to be able to start Monday in an Entry Pool league and spend the entire week in the Entry Pool. PT weeks run Monday-Saturday with Sundays being used for the playoffs. Promotion and Relegation takes place early on Mondays with games starting for the week after Promotion/Relegation takes place.
Last season I think I got to Gold. You are allowed 3 teams per OOTP license. This year, I am going to concentrate on only 1 PT team. The PT Plus is also just for one PT team. I do think that I will be able to handle one team a bit more closely than 3. PT Plus does allow for more tournament entries too. As such PT should take more time and sticking to just 1 team should allow me to concentrate more and get slightly better results. The goal is to get into Diamond this year. That is 1 rung lower than the highest tier. The tier system is:
Entry Pool
Stone
Iron
Bronze
Silver
Gold
Diamond
Perfect
PT PLUS
PT Plus is an optional $6.99 30-day subscription package for Perfect Team that comes with plenty of benefits, including:
- Double the daily login rewards!
- Extra tourney slot each for regular tournaments and Perfect Drafts
- 1.5x multiplier for all achievements across the board (multiplier stacks with higher-level league multipliers)
- Exclusive home ballpark selections
- Bonuses on PP purchases
- One extra surprise per month!
The PT PLUS description is from a forum post about PT. The most important thing is the extra tourney slots. Double the daily login rewards is also nice. The 1.5 multiplier on achievements will add up over time. Not sure how much the ballpark selections will impact things. Also, no way to know how much impact the extra surprise will be as anyone who has PT Plus will get it.
They're also adding PT Live. It is kind of a mix of Fantasy Baseball and PT. I'm going to paste in the description from the forum post as that is a clearer explanation than I would do.
PT LIVE
Perfect Team Live is a daily opportunity to set lineups based on the Live cards you own, and based upon the real-life performance, you will get rewards in Perfect Team!
Lineups in PT Live are made up of 9 batters, 2 bench players, 2 SPs and 2 RPs, with usage limits based on card tiers (2 Perfects max, 3 Diamonds max, 4 Golds max). You'll earn points every day for each hit, inning pitched, win and more the player does in real life!
Position eligibility is tied to the position the player has on the front of the card. Training in PT will not carry over to PT Live. There will be a cutoff time each day to set your lineup, and after the cutoff, you can set your lineup for the next day.
On top of daily rewards, there will be weekly and monthly leaderboards, with special rewards for teams finishing well in each time period!
PT Live will be available shortly after launch; we're hoping to have it ready by Opening Day, but it might be a tiny bit after that. Stay tuned for more.
PT Live will see increased usage of LIVE cards as they adjust monthly base on how players are doing in real life. Most people look to use Historical card in PT. With PT Live you will have to use you LIVE cards. There will also be a meta that develops as you are force to use 6 Silver cards in your lineups. With people having different LIVE cards it will be some time before that meta is developed.
As you can tell, I'm excited for the release of OOTP Baseball 24 on Friday. Hopefully, it captures my attention like I think it will.
