Back in December of 2020 I wrote a review of the 5x5 Stronglifts app. It's brilliant but I felt as if I had plateaued.
Then no less than a week after I wrote my review, the UK went into lockdown for a third time, closing gyms until April, and scuppering all chances of progress.
So technically this is a 3 month progress report, and I'm pleased to say progress has been made.
28th Dec 2020:
- Deadlift: 107.5kg (after failing 135kg)
- Squats 105kg
- Bench 72.5kg
- Overhead press 45kg
Compared to June's chart
- Deadlift 142.5kg
- Squats 115kg
- Bench 82.5kg
- Overhead press 50kg
+10kg in Squats isn't a huge increase but there been a noticeable strength increase. Where I used to deep squat and hold 60kg, I can now do that with 100kg, something I actually didn't think I'd ever be able to do.
While writing this I noticed the big three add up to 750lbs, and they're 5 rep maxes. I wonder how much work it would take to join the 1000lb club... That's an article for another day.
Sadly an injury has slowed me down slightly (article coming soon) plus work commitments may make it impossible to get to the gym at all in the next two months. But maybe the rest will help break personal records again when I return.
