With preparations well under way for this May’s Carmarthen Bay Film Festival CBFF - Gŵyl Ffilm Bae Caerfyrddin and the many elements, people and partnerships are all coming together. From its very beginning 14 years ago, Carmarthen Bay Film Festival has been a place where everyone is welcome no matter one’s background and experience, from the first time filmmaker to the industry veterans testing their movie for an Oscar run
People have come together through their common passion for creativity, storytelling and the celebration of human communication, commerce and artistic expression in all its forms. What began as a community of film lovers and film makers gathering with a pop up screen and borrowed projector has grown to welcoming visitors from all over the world to the Ffwrnes Theatre for 4 days of screenings, Q&As, networking, special events, premieres and Awards Nights and supported by local, national and international businesses to become one of Wales’ biggest cultural events.
A wonderful example is composer, director and CBFF judge John Parr, while working with Tinopolis on his latest movie, dropping in to local record shop The Second 45, opposite the Ffwrnes in #Llanelli. John and the store’s owner Mike shared stories, signed records and listened to great music recorded as it was meant to be heard.
It is great to have local retail and hospitality businesses like ‘the second 45’ record store, Opulence, The New Thomas Arms and the Beer Park, working with the festival and helping to build Llanelli into one of the key destinations of the international film festival circuit and the indie film makers calendar.
This year's festival #CBFF2025 will be live and in-person between the 19th – 22nd May 2025 at the Ffwrnes Theatre, #Llanelli, #Carmarthenshire, #Wales and online.
Admission to over 100 films screened across 15 categories is FREE.
