The sovereignty of one's own little house or flat is an essential feeling. How much protectorate is there actually still within one's own four walls? who disturbs? who is listening? who is watching?

Nobody likes the Stasi of the former GDR! Everyone understands without much intellectual contortions that spying from state or other side is not compatible with a democratic idea. So why are there so many technical advances at home that can do just that, spy.

The worst part of the situation is that we know that all these smart devices have the technical potential to do much better and more extensively the tasks that the Stasi once had.

The reason we have these devices may be the convenience of a highly technical tool that can do many useful tasks. Importantly, it is not advertised that we are being spied on. Of course, if it is mentioned, it is always denied at the highest level.

Nevertheless, we are asked to what extent all collected data may be used on the other side.

A complicated situation, as we know that the devices can do much more than is allowed. The question that arises is, will the companies be regulated in the future so that their devices are no longer allowed to have these capabilities, or will the other side adapt by deeming everyone's domestic independence not particularly worth protecting?

At the moment, there is no sign that there will be a time when smart devices will no longer be able to secretly monitor what is going on.

Admittedly, technical progress is always much faster than politics, how could it be otherwise?

You can't accuse politics of always being behind, that's its nature.

You can tell whether a government is doing a good job on the one hand by how quickly it deals with innovations and acts, and on the other hand where it sets the priorities for its decisions. In our case, more and more data for companies or protection of privacy. Whatever the decisions, one group will think it is right and the other will think it is wrong.

In economically difficult times, one tends to assume that everything will be done so that the wheels of the economy continue to engage with each other and the interests of the individuals fall by the wayside. If things are going well in the economy, state authorities are naturally afraid that things could change again and prefer to let the nobody fall by the wayside.

Am I a pessimist? After all, not everything is bad. The majority of people in Central Europe are ultimately doing quite well and we live in a world in which there is only limited arbitrariness. I guess I'm partly a pessimist when I forget to have breakfast in the morning.

What are we going to do with our high tech observers?
Aren't Bitcoin, Etherium, Hive & co also watching us?
Is it perhaps more likely that the state will regulate cryptocurrencies before regulating the smart devices? 

Der Schutz der Privatsphäre oder die ungebremste Entwicklung des technischen Fortschritts, was ist wichtiger?

Die Souveränität des eigenen Häuschens oder der eigenen Wohnung ist ein essentielles Gefühl. Wie viel Protektorat gibt es eigentlich noch in den eigenen vier Wänden? wer stört? wer hört mit? wer guckt zu?

Niemand mag die Stasi! Jeder versteht ohne große intellektuelle Verrenkungen dass das Ausspionieren von Staats- oder anderer Seite nicht mit einer demokratischen Idee vereinbar ist. Warum also gibt es so viele technischen Fortschritt zu Hause der genau das kann, spionieren.

Das schlimmste an der Situation ist das wir es wissen das diese ganzen smarte Geräte das technische Potential haben die Aufgaben die einmal die Stasi hatte sehr viel besser und umfangreicher zu erledigen.

Der Grund warum wir diese Geräte haben mag der Komfort eines hoch technischen Tools sein das viele nützliche Aufgaben erledigen kann. Wichtig auch, es wird nicht damit geworben das wir ausgespäht werden. Kommt es zur Sprache wird es natürlich immer von höchster Stelle dementiert.

Trotzdem werden wir von Ihnen gefragt in wie weit alle gesammelten Daten auf der anderen Seite genutzt werden darf.

Eine komplizierte Situation, da wir wissen das die Geräte viel mehr können als erlaubt ist. Die Frage die daraus entsteht ist, werden die Firmen in Zukunft so reglementiert das ihre Geräte diese Fähigkeiten nicht mehr haben dürfen oder passt sich die andere Seite an indem sie häusliche Unabhängigkeit eines jeden für nicht besonders schützenswert erachtet.

Im Moment ist nicht zu erkennen das es irgendwann einmal Auflagen geben wird das die smarten Geräte nicht mehr heimlich mithören können.

Der technische Fortschritt ist zugegebenermaßen immer viel schneller als die Politik, wie könnte es auch anders sein.

Man kann der Politik nicht vorwerfen immer hinterher zu hinken, das ist ihre Natur.

Ob eine Regierung gute Arbeit leistet erkennt man zum einen daran wie schnell sie sich mit Neuerungen befasst und handelt und zum anderen wo sie die Schwerpunkte für ihre Entscheidungen fest macht. In unserem Fall also immer mehr Daten für Unternehmen oder Schutz der Privatsphäre. Wie auch immer die Entscheidungen ausfallen eine Gruppe wird es für Richtig halten die andere für falsch.

In wirtschaftlich schwierigen Zeiten nimmt man wohl eher an, das alles getan wird damit die Rädchen der Wirtschaft weiter ineinander greifen und die Interessen des einzelnen kleinen Niemands dagegen unter den Tisch fallen. Läuft es gut in der Wirtschaft hat man als staatliche Autorität natürlich Angst es könnte sich auch wieder ändern und lässt lieber den Niemand unter den Tisch fallen.

Bin ich Pessimist? Es ist schließlich nicht alles schlecht. Der Mehrheit der Menschen in Mitteleuropa geht es letztendlich recht gut und wir leben in einer Welt in der es nur begrenzt Willkür gibt. Teilweise bin ich wohl Pessimist wenn ich vergessen habe am morgen zu Frühstücken.

Observieren uns nicht auch Bitcoin, Etherium, Hive & co?

Wird vielleicht eher an der Stelle der Kryptowährungen staatlich reguliert bevor die heimlichen smarten Geräte reguliert werden?
