I started blogging in early 2018, on Hive (then Steem), like so many others who are still active today. At the time, the user numbers were really high compared to today. More bloggers have dropped out since then than have joined. The price (Steem at the time) was $5. There were people who could live off their income on the blockchain.

Ich habe Anfang 2018 zu bloggen angefangen, bei Hive (damals Steem), wie so viele andere die auch heute noch aktiv sind. Seinerzeit waren die Nutzerzahlen wirklich sehr hoch im Vergleich zu heute. Es sind seither mehr Blogger abgesprungen als dazu gekommen. Der Preis (damals Steem) lag bei 5 $. Es gab Leute die konnten von ihren Einnahmen auf der Blockchain leben.

This situation did not last long, however, and the price went steeply downhill. Many people dropped out, especially those who made a living from it.

But, also a lot of people, the majority who are active on Hive today, enjoyed what Hive is and offers, just kept writing their blogs, kept developing their dapps, or created their own crypto tokens on the chain.

Hive grew enormously over the last few years with offers, services, websites running on the chain, tribes and tokens. And everywhere you got involved, you collected cryptos.

That's how it has remained until today, you can earn cryptos quite efficiently on Hive. Even if it's not the main source of income, it's a lucrative hobby.

Diese Situation hielt sich allerdings nicht lange, es ging steil bergab mit dem Kurs. Viel sind abgesprungen, besonders schnell jene die davon gelebt haben.

Aber, ebenfalls viele Leute, die Mehrheit die heute auf Hive aktiv ist, hatte Freude an dem was Hive ist und bietet, schrieben einfach weiter mit ihren Blogs, entwickelten weiter ihre Dapps, oder kreierten ihre eigenen Krypto-Token auf der Chain.

Hive wuchs enorm in den letzten Jahren mit Angeboten, Services, Webseiten die auf der Chain laufen, Tribes und Token. Und überall wo man sich einbrachte sammelte man Kryptos. So ist das bis heute geblieben, man kann recht effizient Kryptos auf Hive verdienen. Wenn auch nicht als Haupteinnahmequelle, doch als lukratives Hobby.

The support of small accounts, e.g. through delegations, was very strong. In general, the topic of promoting small accounts was much more present than today (currently less so because there are far fewer newbees).

And today...?

The situation is reversed. The many who stayed and simply continued to do their thing all have a wallet today that is easily worth a few thousand US dollars. This is not least due to the very positive development of Hive's share price since the split-off from Steem.

And the user numbers look like this: Today, a lot of accounts have a lot of Hive power, i.e. vote value, and this is distributed among relatively few users. There are few who are starting to blog again. Why? Probably because Hive is unknown to most people.

When I started in Jan 2018 I received mostly post rewards under 1 hive (steem) for my posts until about Dec 2019, almost 2 years. Only occasional exceptions hopped above that and then minimally at best.

Things got better from the end of 2019, especially the split from Steem in spring 2020 gave the Reward development a significant boost.

In the meantime, I receive post rewards above 10 hive and again and again I break the over 20 mark that is privileged in the calculation of rewards.

Die Situation heute stellt sich aber doch anders dar als noch 2018. Es gab damals sehr viel mehr User, die Mehrheit war sogenanntes Plankton, also sehr kleine Accounts die auch kleine Upvotes erhielten, die großen Upvotes wurden verstärkt von Großen für die Großen verteilt.

Die Unterstützung von kleinen Accounts z.B. durch Delegationen war sehr stark ausgeprägt. Allgemein war das Thema Förderung von Klein-Accounts deutlich präsenter als heute (zurzeit weniger weil es viel weniger Neulinge gibt).

und Heute...? Die Situation ist umgekehrt. Die vielen die geblieben sind und einfach ihr Ding weiter gemacht haben, haben heute alle eine Wallet die locker ein paar Tausend US Dollar wert ist. Nicht zuletzt liegt das auch an der sehr positiven Kurs-Entwicklung von Hive seit der Abspaltung von Steem. Und die Nutzerzahlen sehen so aus das heute sehr viele Accounts sehr viel Hive-Power also Vote-Wert haben und sich diese auf relativ wenige Nutzer verteilt. Es gibt wenige die Neu anfangen zu bloggen. Warum? Wahrscheinlich liegt es einfach daran das Hive den meisten unbekannt ist.

Als ich im Jan. 2018 anfing habe ich für meine Posts bis ca. Dez. 2019, also fast 2 Jahre zumeist Post-Rewards unter 1 Hive (Steem) erhalten. Nur gelegentliche Ausnahmen hüpften über diesen Wert und das dann höchstens minimal. Ab Ende 2019 wurde es besser, besonders die Abspaltung im Frühjahr 2020 von Steem hat der Reward-Entwicklung einen deutlichen Schub verliehen. Inzwischen erhalte ich Posts-Rewards über 10 Hive und immer wieder reiße ich die Marke Ü20 die bei der Berechnung der Rewards privilegiert ist.

Anyone who joins hive.blog or one of the many other front-ends and websites based on the Chain will find a situation where many powerful users distribute their rewards over a total of a few posts. If you keep at it, because that is the most important thing in blogging and social media, you certainly don't have to wait a year or more until you are fairly rewarded for your posts.

Of course, it is always most helpful to write posts with added value, which means it should be interesting or entertaining, a technical article but also recipes, DiY or nature topics are very popular. Basically there is no censorship, but copy and paste texts are usually found by the swarm intelligence and downvoted, then you not only get nothing, but the reputation that is visible to all goes down so much that the account is ignored by most.

Looking at the English-speaking community in particular, you can quickly see that the above points apply in full. It also fits for German and Spanish speakers. For smaller countries or languages, the situation may differ.

It is also interesting that, for example, bloggers from Africa are just as successful as bloggers from Western countries. Hive is equal rights without borders.

Wer jetzt auf hive.blog oder eine der vielen anderen Front-Ends und Web-Seiten die auf der Chain basieren einsteigt findet eine Situation vor wo viele potente User auf insgesamt wenige Posts ihre Rewards verteilen. Wer dran bleibt, denn das ist das A und O beim bloggen bzw. Social Media muss sicher nicht 1 Jahr oder länger warten bis er für seine Posts fair entlohnt wird.

Am hilfreichsten ist es natürlich immer Post's mit Mehrwert zu schreiben, das bedeutet es sollte schon interessant oder unterhaltsam sein, ein fachlicher Artikel aber auch Rezepte, DiY oder Naturthemen finden sehr viel Anklang. Grundsätzlich gibt es keine Zensur allerdings werden Copy and paste Texte von der Schwarmintelligenz zumeist gefunden und downgevotet, dann erhält man nicht nur nichts sondern die Reputation die für alle Sichtbar ist geht bei mehrmaligen wiederholen so sehr in den Keller das der Account von den meisten ignoriert wird.

Beim Blick speziell auf die deutschsprachige Community kann man schnell erkennen das die oben angeführten Punkte voll und ganz zutreffen. Auch für Englisch und Spanischsprachige passt es. Bei kleineren Ländern bzw. Sprachen kann die Situation mitunter abweichen.

Interessant ist auch das z.B. Blogger aus Afrika genauso erfolgreich sind wie Blogger aus den westlichen Ländern. Hive ist gelebte Gleichberechtigung ohne Grenzen.
