Let’s Simplify Things! Brave browser! Issue with the rewards and my thoughts after using it for about a year!

A warm welcome to another Let’s Simplify Things! post!

In this post let us have a look at Brave Browser.

I have been using the Brave browser for about a year now in various forms, so this are my thoughts about it…

To simplify it Brave browser is a version of Chrome that gives you more privacy, block ads, trackers, cookies, etc. but most importantly, for most of us, pays for the ads you see!

The idea is simple and thus has been proven very successful in many cases.... share the profits of ads with the user.

They do that by utilising their native cryptocurrency named BAT ( Basic Attention Token).

I will not go into the technical details behind it and how it works, as there is a plethora of posts about it and few want all these ‘boring’ technical information.

What I will mention though is that you can install in your pc ( Windows, Mac, Linux supported) four different versions of it.

You got Brave Release which is the stable version most should use.

You got Brave Beta which is a step before the Release version and you can find earlier any new futures there.

You got Brave Developer which as its names suggests is a very early version that can be unstable.

Although in my experience it is pretty stable as I had so far, no issues with it.

And finally, you got Brave Nightly which is the earliest of them all and as its name suggest it updates every night.

For the record I have used all versions except Brave Nightly.

The menus and entire setup are almost 100% identical to the Chrome browser and it couldn’t be any other case as it is based on it.

There are also versions for your mobile phone that work fine.

The only thing you cannot do for the moment with your mobile version is connect your Uphold account to them.

You still earn BAT though as you would in the pc versions.

It is something that according to their support is coming in the near future.

Now let us have a look to the most important feature which is the rewards.

You can get up to 5 ads an hour that appear on the form of a notification.

But it depends on your region and advertisement campaigns available on the actual number you will see.

Just make sure you set it up to 5 ads per hour and let it be.

And now to the issues I have with Brave browser that are just two.

First you have to go and open an account with Uphold.

You have to connect your Uphold account with the Brave browser in order to be able to automatically receive the monthly payout.

I have nothing against Uphold and they do offer a good and reliable service.

I just want to have the choice of where my earnings go.

Secondly and most important is the transparency!

You see they give you on the browser an estimation of your monthly payout and not what you will receive!

I have for months monitored and wrote down every time an advertisement appeared and I found out that in many cases it wasn’t matching.

For the record I have informed them about it and the response was, at the end, that they are working on it.

I don’t understand how hard can it be to have a proper counter and give the user the real number?

You know how many advertisements a browser has shown just add them up and multiply them with the equivalent BAT amount.

For the record this month they had to have a statement about it, as the differences were major and a lot of people started complaining.

I guess that is what happens if for months you are told to be transparent about it and fix this issue and you do nothing about it…

Don’t get me wrong!

I don’t say they try to mislead you or not give you the amount you earned.

They do try to do good and they have said they will make an extra payout to compensate for what happened.

I would put it down to most probably having thought of how it should work wrongly while in development and have concentrated on other things they considered more important to work on and never fixed it.

To summarise it, I would definitely say Brave browser is the browser to use at the moment!

It offers all the things you need and you can earn some money on top of it!

Finally, before saying goodbye, I want to let everyone know that I have no sponsors, this post is not sponsored by Brave or anyone else whatsoever!

You will only find my personal invitation link to Brave which I highly appreciate it if you use it to download the browser!

The above reflect my personal views and by no means should be taken as a recommendation to use or not use any service or equipment whatsoever!

Please feel free to make any suggestions or comments especially on what you would like to see next being simplified!

Until the next post....

Thank you all from the bottom of my heart!
