Crypto Chaos: How The SEC Actions Reshape the Crypto Industry

By SimpleSwap | SimpleSwap Blog | 2 Jun 2023

Cryptocurrency exchanges in the US faced a new wave of repression from the US Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC). The main reason for all the troubles is a significant amount of tokens and coins that the regulator sees as securities.

Today, at least 16 tokens are considered by the SEC as securities. They are still traded on some cryptocurrency exchanges, which the Commission obviously doesn’t appreciate. Thus, the US regulator is going to further increase the pressure on the cryptocurrency industry. That's why some companies are forced to leave the US and look for new jurisdictions for further work. For example, Gemini exchange wants to leave the US and SEC might be a main reason for such an action.
