Hello readers,
I was having a conversation with ChatGPT on what foods dogs like; I had a hunch that, because dogs are related to wolves then they must love red meat. ChatGPT confirmed my intuition. I assumed most people know this fact as well, whether they intuit this answer or search for the answer to this question.
Questions:
Do dogs prefer meat for food?
The answer to this question and the question itself made me think of another question:
What human food is equal to kibble food for dogs?

(1) Meal Replacement Powders/Shakes
Would you eat powders or shakes every day for breakfast, lunch, and dinner? Would you say this is food? Better yet, would you be willing to replace all your meals for just 1 year with powder shakes? How about your whole life of just shakes? If the answer is not, then you need to think what it must be like for a dog to eat the same mundane and tasteless food every single day. The interesting thing is that ChatGPT makes it seem like this is a good thing.
“Designed to provide all essential nutrients in a convenient form. Not gourmet, but balanced. Like kibble, they emphasize efficiency and completeness." -ChatGPT
If I were to tell you should replace all your real food with shakes since you'll get all the same nutrients, if not more, would that convince you to start eating powder shakes all day, every day? The real question is: Are we trying to feed our dog healthy "foods" or real food? Would you say eating "healthy" protein shakes is better than eating "healthy" real foods?

(2) Fortified Breakfast Cereals
There’s nothing more classic than cereal, right? I enjoy it once in a while, but imagine eating cereals for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. No milk, just the cereals. If you think that’s terrible, imagine how many dogs are eating dry processed pellets, or as we call "cereals"…

(3) Instant Noodles or Packaged Foods

The worst food anyone can eat is processed or instant noodles, where just the salt is enough to kill you. I am thinking of all the processed protein and snacks for dogs that can sit in a store for a long time. You’d better off making them a snack with the food you eat. Dogs love fresh leftover food over processed, dry, and tasteless pellets.
Conclusion:
You'd better off feeding your dog your leftovers or giving them a separate custom plate for your dog of the same foods you eat, especially if you eat protein.
For example: If you like eating your steaks with a lot of spices then before you start cooking you separate a small portion of the steak for your dog and you add very little to no spices since many dogs are sensitive to the spices we consume and in that way you are giving your dog real food without hurting their stomach with the spices you consume while keeping them strong and healthy without the need for processed kibble(cereals).
Euphemism in this article:
Fantasy: “healthy kibble”
Reality: processed pellets/cereal
Here is George Carlin’s take on euphemism.
