Happy RollerChristmas, friendos!
Even though it’s a few days later than it was advertised to be, it is every bit as chock-full of bonus content as expected. Let's dive right in to the new stuff.
Season’s Hardware
The new list of miners contains all the Christmas-themed items that we saw revealed during the pre-season scavenger hunt and more!
Both the Loot Crate and the event's achievement levels contain new miners, though the bulk is in the box (see below).
Earnable Event Rewards
Four new miners are added exclusively to the event's 30 level(!) advent calendar, which is back down to (100XP per level). These are available to those players who choose to purchase a 99.99RLT event pass upgrade:
- Gingerbread
- Level 5 reward
- 75 terahash per second
- Dasher's Sled
- Level 10 reward
- 75 terahash per second
- Granny's Cake
- Level 15 reward
- 125 terahash per second
- Santa's Flyer
- Level 25 reward
- 250 terahash per second
- The Christmas Eve
- Level 30 Reward
- 400 terahash per second
The Santa's Sleigh is also available for earning at level 20, but this looks to be the same Santa's Sleigh that was available last Christmas. (I'm not sure, I wasn't playing then.) Probably good for anyone who wants to combine them.
Anyway, here's the rest of the event's rewards:
(note that this snapshot was probably taken while the event was in development, as the trophies are now represented by gold & platinum christmas trees)

Boxes!
The new Loot Crate costs only 10RLT, and here’s what’s in it:

Once again, it is totally worth the cost, as even the smallest possible reward gives a hash per cost ratio of 1! See this article’s section on why I mine RLT almost exclusively for more details about the measure of a Loot Crate’s worthiness. Here are the ratios for this crate:

I won't bother to color the cells, because even the littlest ones are worth it.
Event Timeline
Possible rewards for free players this season include a few miners, 5RLT (level 21), and a trophy (level 18). The free earn miners are as follows:
- RollerMiner S4
- Level 3
- 1 terahash per second
- Rolleron 741
- Level 8
- 3 terahash per second
- RollerMiner S5+
- Level 13
- 4 terahash per second
- Gold Digger
- Level 24
- 15 terahash per second
- Chupacabra
- Level 27
- 14 terahash per second
- El Monstro
- Level 29
- 110 terahash per second
To achieve this you’ll have to grind your butt off, as the number of points needed to reach the 29th level will require both daily logins and daily task points (along with viewing each of the two rotating social media pages for 2 points each).
Seriously.
This kind of discipline is usually reserved for a person’s actual discipline… RollerCoin is transitioning from a time sink into an unprofitable side-hustle.
Daily Tasks
This is a switch from the previous seasons, but probably for the better. I remember getting through the weekly tasks in the first few days and then letting my power backslide for the rest of the week. This one will keep us on our toes for every one of the 61 days!
Here are the earnable points for each day:
- 10xp: win 100 games
- 5xp: win 50 games
- 2xp: win 15 times revolving game #1
- 2xp: win 15 times revolving game #2
- 2xp: click social link #1
- 2xp: click social link #2
- 5xp: invite a friend
- 8xp: spend 5RLT
- 6xp: open a lootbox

So in total with the spending and inviting, you can earn 42 points per day. 60 days of 42 points is 2520, but if you were super on the ball when the event opened at 4.5 hours before midnight UTC there was an additional 42 points available for "Day 0," for 2562. Not enough to earn the 100xp times 30 levels' 3,000 points on its own, but additional points can be earned for the daily check-in.
Admittedly, I don't know the layout of this because I access the site through my mobile phone, so I only see 3 days' worth of checkin points at a time. The first three days are 2, 3, and 5 points as before, but the blog post mentioned an overhaul of the daily checkin points, so I'll have to wait and see. Someone in the discord mentioned that the total earnable points for this event was 3100, but that's 3rd hand information.
- Day 1: 2xp
- Day 2: 3xp
- Day 3: 5xp
- Day 4: 10xp
- Day 5: 15xp
- Day 6: 20xp
- Day 7: 25xp
Note: edited to complete
New Game!
Man, I love the lambo game. But also, that dayumned lambo. Why does Hamster drive so recklessly? Why do all the square cars drive so slooooow?? Wtf is with those manholes??
((no image of lambo rider will do it justice. go play it.))

Controls are easy on both mobile and computer, and the points you can make from the game are awesome, but MAN it moves fast! I hope I get the hang of it by the time the day rolls around where I have to play it 15 times for my sweet sweet 2xp...
New Coins!
We can now deposit BNB, and mine for MATIC!!
MATIC is Polygon’s Ethereum side-chain token that is built for security and scaling up. The most exciting thing about this for me is that RollerCoin is far from the only game that awards MATIC. PipeFlare switched to MATIC (from DOGE) earlier this year, and then launched a mainnet token based off their in-game currency… All you have to do is run a quick internet search for “games that use MATIC” to find out what a large & growing community there is for this.
In theory, I could mine MATIC on RollerCoin and then use it to stake my 1FLR from PipeFlare, or participate in any of those other games. Right now we can’t deposit MATIC from another game to buy miners with, but I suspect that might be coming soon.
The last time they added a coin it was BNB, and now they have added the ability to deposit that (and it’s stable sister, BUSD), so fingers crossed!
And guess what?? MATIC is the underdog token of the week! Last I checked, under a thousand player were mining this token. It represented only 4 out of 52 exahash of the network, with a block reward of 3MATIC. That makes it a WINNER.
MINER MERGER
This seems cool, but I don’t have enough components (yet) or multiple miners of the same type to combine, so I don’t really have anything to say about it…
Except…

If the players who have this many miners are working with a limited number of rooms in which to mount miners to racks to benefit from the power, I’m betting they have far more miners in reserve. Once they can merge them, they can use them (with raised power) and the power they contribute to the network will go up, and Up and UP, and it’s possible that free-to-players will end up with a veeeeeerrry small percentage of the block power.
In other words, we may be seeing the end of any sort of profitability for those who can’t or won’t pay for the game. Last week 500th/s was 0.0011% of the total network power of ~47 exahash. Can you imagine how much higher that 47 will be? 90? 150? 1000??? (it's already up to 52) If a small player has 500th/s and a block reward of 30RLT is being shared by 100Eh/s, that’s a reward of 0.00015RLT per block. Since RLT is supposed to be stable, that’s akin to 1.5% of a cent.
It is especially worrisome since the top 6000 players were all just handed a bunch of miners:

… and creating a combined miner from 2 of something gives you 3 times its hash rate:

Let’s hope they find some way to avoid this kind of scenario.
Surprise Bonus: Drops are Cool!
It was publicised that there would be random drops added to the end of a game win to distribute merge components, but what they neglected to mention was that those wouldn't be the only things dropped! I've received bonus hash power, multipliers for the points earned for games or the length of time the power from a game stays, and even 0.01RLT! In the blog post they mention you can ever get whole miners dropped to you!
The bonus power will be very useful.

And on that note…
Happy Season 3! Welcome home, reindogg.

Aaaand, here's the wall of shame...
Seems the RollerFolks failed to load test their servers, so for the first 4 hours they were super bogged. Here are some of the glitches:
- No power on the network.
- No rewards for the block
- No coins in your pockets!
- No points for games
- Nothing in the shop
- Can't load nothin'
- And my personal favorite: You are now a cube

- Eric would be proud.

But on a more serious note.... Here's an un-funny lack of functionality that was promised: The Marketplace.

The Task Wall
Oh yeah, if you like the Task Wall you can still reach it from the main menu even though the “home” screen banner has changed:

If you’re not already getting paid in crypto for your casual gaming habits, you can grab a quick thousand sats by using my link to join RollerCoin. Adopt your own Mr. Goxx (R.I.P.) and get that wheel rolling!
