Ethereum mining rig

How to mine crypto when you make food for people - an aluminum frame for a GPU miner

In parallel to some XMR mining rigs I invested in, I wanted to give a try with ETH. Then, I imagine what you guys are gonna say. ETH2, proof of stake, whatever. Well, in the meantime, the rig is mining and brings in some good ol' ETH, so far it's fine, thank you.

As a start, I needed a metal frame to attach the mining rig elements : Mobo, power supply and GPUs basically.

I found this dude on YT which came up with a good video on how to put together a metal frame out of a couple of aluminum bars.
Watch his video here : A frame for a mining rig
I'm not ashamed to say this was of a great help and on top of this, it describes some improvements that should be made. Neat. Watch it and give him a thumb up.

Honestly, with some tools everybody is alleged to be in possession of, such as a metal hand saw, a measuring tape, a pencil or a sharpie, some small metal screws and a screwdriver, you're good to go for cheap. In this video above, it's a $30 or 25EUR budget. Then, if you're willing to pay the price and make amazon even richer, be my guest. We've entered the era of the DIY or die.

Well, I bought a couple of aluminum angle bars like these at my local hardware store.

I then took the adequat measurements and made this drawing as a good plan to follow and I love it when a plan comes together. The measurements are based upon the size of the Mobo, so I could screw the Mobo on the lateral sides of the frame.

Make sure you screw the mobo to the frame and slip rubber washers between the frame and the mobo with bolts, for protection against disturbance (shock, vibrations, isolation of some sort, you name it). You'll have to drill holes the size of the mobo's fixing holes on the aluminum frame and buy bolts this size as well. Still very cheap, friend.
