Justin Sun recently unveiled the merger between BLive; the shuttered Bittorrent livestreaming platform, and DLive; an established and robust streamer platform recently acquired by Tron. Content creators in the know have long awaited the rumored resurrection of BLive since Tron acquired Bittorrent. Beta testing was rumored to have begun in late November of last year; however no news had come out in several months and this journalist's personal application for the beta was never responded to. With YouTube rolling out new terms and conditions for creators regarding COPPA for the new year, as well as "mistakenly" deleting dozens upon dozens of cryptocurrency educational and promotional videos from well-respected members of the community; this announcement of progress on an alternative decentralized video platform could not have arrived with better timing.
From gamers to vloggers, and content creators of all disciplines; there is a massively underserved market for a monetized content platform that rewards creators for their hard work in a fair and transparent manner. YouTube has already long proven itself untrustworthy when it comes to monetization. The policy change in 2017 excluding small creators from monetization unless they gained over 1k subscribers is one example of Google doing evil to many thousands of hard working video makers.
Time will tell how this new platform will evolve to serve the P2P content sharing community. Bittorrent has long advocated for a decentralized internet and with the backing from Tron this bold new move has the potential to become massive within a few short years. Applying the fast transactions of the Tron network to the robust streaming UI infrastructure of DLive may be the magic sauce that paves the way for the decentralized content hub of the coming decade. Rewarding staking holders with free transactions on Tron incentivizes creators to interact with and vote for node representatives on the blockchain to enhance their financial rewards.
