Anti-Alzheimer molecule

Really Good News from Tunisia.

A team of tunisian researchers have succeeded in synthesizing an anti-Alzheimer molecule in their Laboratory of Applied Chemistry at Sfax University.

The team of Pr. Dgachi synthesized the KT2d molecule based on tacrine, a drug used against Alzheimer's disease (AD), and Kojic acid produced by the filamentous fungus Aspergillus oryzae (Koji).

Compared to traditional drugs administered to Alzheimer patients, KT2d is claimed to be six times less toxic for the liver and should reduce neurons death to 50%.

Further studies are to be undertaken on animals before considering testing the KT2d on humans.
