Monero - Privacy By Design
Monero has got to be the coolest privacy coin to ever hit the Crypto space, with a community of super committed users to match. Monero continues to consistently dominate the privacy space, regardless of new projects.
Many may consider Zcash a worthy competitor to challenge Monero's dominance but let's be honest, Monero is pretty much untouchable.
Don't get me wrong, I think Zcash is a great project and in a pretty sweet spot for accumulation but my money is still on Monero.
So What Is The Attraction?
In recent times many in the Crypto space have been chattering and fearing a clampdown by governments on privacy coins. I too at one point was actually rather concerned but that concern seems to have dissipated in the broader Crypto community.
It makes sense that any Crypto investor would want to hold key players of every meaningful sector. For instance, hold some top DeFi plays, exchange tokens and obviously privacy coins. Monero always comes up as the logical choice, compounded by the fact that Monero continues to be a firm favourite among miners.

Unfortunately, when it comes to Cryptojacking, Monero is also often the number one choice. Well, at least we can agree that everyone loves Monero, even the undesirables. So, if any Crypto hodler worth his salt was looking for a good privacy play, you bet it would be Monero!
The Test Of Time
Monero was introduced to the world in 2014, making it one of the early projects to survive, similar to Dogecoin which also has a very committed and passionate community.
With the added benefit of privacy, it's only logical that the darknet underlords would be licking their lips, as they preyed upon Monero as a vehicle to do their bidding. However, it is still just the vehicle and not the criminal.

In a similar way as a car could be used to transport the homeless one day and rob a bank the next, the car remains neutral. It is the driver who is kind or of evil intent.
There are people out there who wish to remain private for no other reason than to keep their business personal. Privacy is a human right and for some that is very important.
