Smart contracts are a way to send tokens on the Ethereum blockchain anywhere. They are useful to lots of people but smart contracts have one main problem. The Gas Price. Gas is basically transaction fees on the Ethereum blockchain. They are OBSCENELY high. If your transaction only costs $2 you are considered very LUCKY. That's right: spending tons of money on transaction fees is considered normal now. If this problem gets eliminated (I. E.: Eth 2.0) smart contract usage could SKYROCKET and become much more mainstream than it currently is.
